Job Details

We are seeking a motivated R&D Specialist to join the Ophthalmology group and conduct in vivo and in vitro experiments pertaining to ophthalmic diseases to support Regeneron Discovery and Development programs. This position will be responsible for the execution of biological experiments necessary to develop animal models and deliver experimental therapeutic reagents. This individual will also provide in-house technical expertise for interacting with colleagues and external collaborators on research projects. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, flexible, innovative and able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will also have excellent communication skills and be able to work well in a team.

A TYPICAL DAY IN THE ROLE MIGHT LOOK LIKE:
- Assist and perform ocular surgeries or injections in animals, including rodent and rabbit.

- Conduct ocular structural and functional studies using optical coherence tomography (OCT), electroretinography (ERG), etc.

- Collect and prepare tissues for histological or biochemical analyses.

- Cut and stain ocular tissues, perform microscopy and image analysis.

- Design and perform molecular/biochemical assays on harvested tissues and cells.

- Establish and maintain cell culture systems and perform in vitro experiments.

- Perform data analysis and prepare study report.

REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a BS with at least 8 years or MS with at least 5 years of laboratory experience. Experience should include:

- Animal handling, animal eye surgeries, ocular disease models in rodents and/or rabbits.

- Experience in biological laboratory research (histology, microscopy, biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell culture).

- Statistical concepts and practical data analysis skills.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Computer experience (Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism, Photoshop).

- Good organization skills, excellent attention to detail, good interpersonal skills, perform as a team player. Some weekend and evening flexibility will be required.

- High integrity.

- This position will require the individual to pass a physical before beginning employment.
