We are currently seeking a qualified, highly motivated, experienced individual for the position of Manager/Senior Manager, Cost Accounting. The position reports to the Director, Accounting. The location of the position is in Brisbane, CA.

Summary Description

The Manager/Senior Manager, Cost Accounting will be an integral part of the Myovant Finance organization and will report to the Director, Revenue and Cost Accounting. This individual will primarily be responsible for all aspects of cost accounting including developing the inventory costing method for raw materials, WIP and finished goods, ensuring accuracy of inventory valuation and reserve and compliance with US GAAP. This role will focus on implementation of new processes related to cost accounting and inventory valuation as the Company prepares for commercialization. This role will interact with all levels of management within the organization as well as with external partners such as CMOs, contractors, consultants, other vendors and the external and internal auditors. This is a hands-on position that will be directly responsible for preparing accounting analysis, preparation of accounting entries and reconciliations related to cost accounting and inventory to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Advanced Excel skills are required and experience in a publicly traded pharmaceutical company is highly desirable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other key functional teams such as Financial Planning and Analysis, Manufacturing, Quality and Commercial Supply Chain to implement new processes as the Company prepares for commercialization.
  • Collaborate with third party service provider to obtain required information for areas of assigned responsibility
  • Execute month-end close process, including inventory overhead and CMO service fee cost application (cost adjustments), preparation of journal entries, reconciliation and analyses related to cost of goods sold, as well as inventory valuation, balances and reserves.
  • Preparation of journal entries, reconciliation and analyses related to month-end accruals based on vendor provided information for areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Design, develop, implement, perform and maintain internal controls related to cost of goods sold and inventory valuation and balances.
  • Use SAP to perform cost accounting and inventory valuation
  • Coordinate and lead meetings with external and internal teams in areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of cost accounting and inventory data.
  • Review significant contracts for accounting implications for areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Serve as an expert on cost accounting and inventory valuation issues and related best practices.
  • Partner with Commercial Supply Chain with physical inventory count and verification of raw materials, WIP and finished goods.
  • Identify and implement ongoing process improvements and enhancements in the cost accounting and inventory valuation process.
  • Coordinate with external and internal auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audit.
  • Provide guidance to business teams as appropriate for areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external business owners.
  • Collaborate with business partners in FP&A and Procurement to ensure that purchase orders and invoices are assigned to the appropriate departments and projects.
  • Take on additional day-to-day accounting activities /roles as needed.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives and special projects as needed.
  • Support and implement SOX control procedures.
  • Extended hours during close weeks as well as quarter-end and year-end will be required.
  • Perform other related duties and ad-hoc projects as required by the position.
  • Some business travel is required.

Core Competencies, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information from data from multiple sources.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SOX requirements for areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to efficiently provide high quality work.
  • Unquestionable integrity and judgement.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to successfully meet tight deadlines.
  • Must be proactive and possess the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to adapt and work in a quickly changing environment, managing competing demands.

REQUIREMENTS

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

Experience
  • Inventory and cost accounting experience is required.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience. A combination of public accounting and pharmaceutical industry experience is highly preferred.
  • Recent experience as Cost Accounting Manager at a publicly traded biotechnology or pharmaceutical company is required.
  • SAP experience preferred.
