Kite, a Gilead Company, is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel cancer immunotherapy products designed to harness the power of a patient's own immune system to selectively target and kill cancer cells. Our core technology involves the genetic engineering of T cells, or white blood cells, to express either chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) or T cell receptors (TCRs) for the treatment of advanced solid and hematological malignancies. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as an Engineering Drawing Technologist supporting our manufacturing facility in Frederick, MD. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the building of a new manufacturing organization.

The Engineering Document Specialist will be responsible for leading all Kite engineering drawings and turnover packages (TOP's). This will include receipt of drawings and TOPs from the design engineering firm and incorporating into Kite electronic systems. This person will oversee the processes used to track, store and control engineering and facilities documents while also ensuring their accuracy, quality and integrity. The successful candidate will handle physical storage of the hard copy TOP's. The specialist will lead and execute all drawing revisions and ensure compliance of drawings with cGMP guidelines. The Engineering Document Specialist will develop and maintain the site's regulatory drawings.

As this position is a key interface with internal and external stakeholders, strong communication skills are crucial.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer, maintain and update all site drawings, BIM models and turnover packages
  • Interface with global engineering to implement drawing management software for the site and align on drawing management philosophy across the Kite network
  • Draft and own site procedures for drawing management / revisions and site turn over package archival in compliance with cGMP
  • Interface with site engineering, contractors and engineering firms as required to obtain updated drawing redlines
  • Incorporate redlines into drawings via use of Auto Cad
  • Maintain site BIM model and coordinate with vendor to update as required
  • Provides support in the design, modifications, maintenance and operation of manufacturing equipment, facilities and processes
  • Provide up to date drawings for regulatory inspection


Basic Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree and 2+ years' experience in Engineering, Building Information Modeling, CAD OR
  • Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years' experience in Engineering, Building Information Modeling, CAD OR
  • AA Degree and 5+ years' experience in Engineering Building Information Modeling, CAD OR
  • High School Degree and 6+ years' experience in Engineering, Building Information Model, CAD


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience editing engineering drawings with software such as Auto-Cad, Revit or BIM 360
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required
  • Adaptable and flexible to changing working environment.
  • Willing to learn and take on new responsibilities outside of current function
  • Ability to develop processes and procedures with limited guidance
  • Ability to check technical drawings for accuracy with sufficient attention to detail
  • Experience with 3D modeling
  • cGMP experience working in a regulated industry
  • Experience with document management software such as EIDA, Meridian and Blue Mountain.
  • Auto-CAD proficiency
  • Demonstrated success on the job, as evidenced by satisfactory performance, acceptance of responsibility and growth in previous positions.
