Position: 

Nanome is searching for an Applications Scientist with expertise in Computational Chemistry or Computer Aided Drug Design for our San Diego office. Our Applications Scientist will use Nanome’s software to address challenging problems in pharmaceutical research and engage with potential/existing customers in the pre and post-sale process. 

 

Responsibilities include: 

Providing scientific expertise for our software to potential and existing customers, including demonstrating optimal use of Nanome through demos; training; engaging in internal and external research projects for publication; and giving presentations at scientific conferences.

The Applications Scientist will become thoroughly familiar with our virtual reality structure-based and ligand-based design software, including plugins for docking, molecular simulations, chemical property prediction, and more. A strong background in molecular modeling and computational chemistry with application to biological problems is highly desired. Exceptional communication skills, an outgoing personality, and a willingness to travel are required.

In this role, it’ll be critical to understand and interpret customer’s concerns and questions and be able to provide support through email, phone, or in-person meetings. You should also have the ability to produce scientific content for the community such as tutorials and create customized python scripts per customer requests. 

 

Requirements:

  • Advanced studies in medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, or a related field
  • Experience with pharmaceutical applications of molecular modeling software tools
  • A broad knowledge of molecular modeling theory and applications
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to conduct independent research
  • Excellent English skills, spoken and written
  • Experience in computational chemistry or computer aided drug design
  • Python programming experience
  • 2-3 years of structure-based drug design in a pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry setting

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with existing CADD software tools
  • Post-doctoral research and/or relevant experience in the commercial sector
