Senior Category Manager - R&D, Lab Supplies & Consumables

The Senior Category Manager will be responsible for developing & leading the Global Category Management strategy supporting Research and Development which include but not limited to laboratory supplies and consumables, contract research services, and research collaborations. The Senior Category Manager works effectively with ambiguity to anticipate future global business requirements in complex and/or multiple business unit stakeholder categories. She/he develops strategies to meet future demands and to create a competitive supply advantage.

As Senior Category Manager, a typical day might include the following:

• Leading and/or working with others to solve issues of diverse scope where analysis requires an understanding of current business trends
• Developing and executing the Category Management strategy to optimize value from the global supply base
• Overseeing & coordinating global requests for proposals, negotiating contracts, and ensuring contract objectives are delivered (savings, SLAs, etc.); ensuring compliance with pricing agreements and internal policies/procedures
• Managing global supplier relationships and ensuring performance and accountability are tracked/improved
• Developing and managing program policies and procedures ensuring compliance with Company guidelines, related laws, and governmental guidelines.
• Developing and executing procurement related programs to optimize value
• Creating and leading the Supplier Management Program for the category including risk, performance, relationship, and supplier development pillars with collective input from the individual market sourcing managers
• Developing and owning the framework negotiation plan for the global category strategy using a leader mastery level skill set

To be considered for this position you must have a bachelor's degree with 10 years of category management experience. Formalized training in category management is helpful. Experience in R & D, laboratory supplies and consumables, contract research services, and or research collaborations required. The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment is also required.
