Fate Therapeutics is seeking an experienced and highly motivated cell and molecular biologist with expertise in induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and genetic enginereering to join a
multidisciplinary team dedicated to the discovery of novel iPSC derived cellular therapeutics. The position will be responsible for the generation of genetically engineered iPSC clones to support internal R&D programs and collaborations. The successful candidate must be able to generate and maintain a large number of clones and coordinate with other groups for genomic screening and differentiation of generated cells. The position will require innovative thinking, strong independent and collaborative research abilities, and excellent oral and written communication skills. This is a full-time, bench-level position reporting to a Scientist, Functional Genomics and is located at the Company's corporate headquarters in San Diego, California.

• Genetically engineer, characterize, expand, and cryopreserve human induced
pluripotent stem cell clones under direct supervision
• Assist in the platform optimization of iPSC engineering to support internal programs and collaborations
• Present data to project group and multidisciplinary teams
• Work closely with the immunology project leads on the identification and
prioritization of potential future desired gene editing targets (knock-outs and/or knock-ins)

• B.S. or M.S. degree in cell biology or related discipline
• 5+ years of research experience preferably in biotech or pharma
• Extensive hands-on experience in iPSC culture, expansion, characterization, and cryopreservation of cells. Experience culturing cells in 96-well plates is desirable but not required
• Previous hands-on working experience engineering iPSC cells using CRISPR/Cas9, Cpf1, etc. is required
• Flow cytometry experience for the functional characterization of edited cells is also
• Track record of collaborative work and mentoring of junior scientists
• Excellent technical decision-making and trouble shooting skills
• Excellent communication, time management, record keeping, and data analysis skills
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced setting

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
• Will require working with blood and cell lines of human and animal origin
• Will require working with hazardous materials
• 100% on-site work at corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA
• Occasional evening and weekend work will be required
