We are seeking an energetic, self-motivated, collaborative Analytical Research Associate to join our research group dedicated to the discovery and development of novel oncology therapeutics.  This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the foundational science and culture of a biotech start-up company backed by an experienced management team.    Title, compensation and scope of duties will be tailored to the successful candidate’s experience.

Major Responsibilities:

In this role you will have an opportunity to develop the assays that will support the characterization and release of pH Pharma’s antibody-drug conjugates. You will also form close partnerships with colleagues in to enable process development work and support method transfers. This will impact pH Pharma by enabling us to develop the processes for our drugs and manufacture them to help patients in clinical trials. You will have the opportunity to learn new analytical techniques as our drugs and intermediates span the gamut of small molecules, polymers and biologics.

  • Perform RP/IEX/SEC HPLC, LC/MS, CE/cIEF and spectrophotometry-based testing of compounds including small molecules, polymers and biologics under guidance from senior scientists
  • Pipette accurately
  • Follow analytical procedures and qualification protocols in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Develop and evaluate new analytical methods to support our growing drug pipeline
    Accurately prepare calibration standards, buffer solutions, and test articles for analysis including highly potent compounds such as antibody-drug conjugates and linker-payload compounds
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and notebooks
    Write analytical reports and SOPs
  • Maintain laboratory supplies and perform laboratory housekeeping tasks
  • Perform or manage routine maintenance on analytical instrumentation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related discipline with 10 years’ experience or Master’s degree with 8 years’ experience within a pharmaceutical company or a CRO
  • Previous experience in analytical development or QC setting
  • Strong critical and creative thinking skills for problem solving
  • Experience with biologics or protein analytics
  • Hands-on experience in instrumental analysis, including operation, and maintenance of HPLC equipment
  • Knowledge of HPLC software and instrumentation (Shimadzu, Waters, Empower)
  • Excellent oral and written communication and computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability and desire to learn and develop new laboratory skills
  • Is energetic and highly self-motivated; can work independently as well as with teams
  • Able to work efficiently and productively in a start-up company environment
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Experience with AB Sciex, Thermo, Agilent or Bruker mass spectrometers and Beckman CE systems experience desired
  • Excellent documentation, organizational and teamwork skills
  • Interpersonal/communication skills in embodying a collaborative, respectful, courteous, capable company culture
