Position Summary:

The Associate Director for Workplace Strategy, Planning and Research is responsible for managing Horizon's overall workplace strategy, headcount planning and workplace and services research. These efforts supports Horizon's new headquarters in Dublin, its newly acquired 660,000 square foot, 70 acre campus in Deerfield and multiple smaller sites. You will lead the planning and research functions for Horizon's workplace and facilities functions across the globe. You will also drive development of Horizon's first set of global workplace design guidelines.

  • Drive Implementation of workplace and services research and surveys to drive future of the workplace and employee experience based on data
    • Regular workplace and services surveys across the portfolio
    • Observational studies on how people work
    • Post occupancy surveys to feedback to future design
  • Lead Real Estate and Facilities headcount planning and data analysis including system requirements, space demand, geography, stacking and move planning
    • Define processes and data sources for headcount, utilization and migration planning
    • Complete monthly and quarterly headcount reporting and data analysis
    • Partner with business units, HR, Security and IT to gather and analyze utilization data (IT, Security, Conference Room, Occupancy, etc.) to understand how the workplace is being used
    • Provide data on space utilization across multiple criteria
    • Own and drive the move process, migration planning and space allocation
  • Deliver an overall workplace strategy and set of guidelines to define and support Horizon work styles and functions
    • Define worker types and work styles of different job functions
    • Define workplace types to support
    • Develop and deliver workplace design guidelines based on research and data on how Horizon employees use their workplace and will need to use it in the future
  • Develop and maintain workplace guidelines to drive the development of future workplaces
  • Deliver consistent design strategy with key design element(s) across sites
  • Deliver consistent approach to office and workstation furniture
  • Responsible for consistent real estate project delivery approach with architects and general contractors
    • Global furniture vendor
    • Define collaboration furniture
    • Lead architect and GC selection process
    • Drive consistent approach with GCs and architects
  • Other roles as assigned

Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • 10+ years workplace strategy and planning experience
  • Solid knowledge of workplace research related to both workplace design and strategy and evaluating the delivery of workplace services
  • Experience developing headcount processes, models and projections
  • Experience working with and reconciling multiple data sources to gather workplace and headcount information
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Professional, proactive demeanor
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Requires approximately 10% travel, including some overnight and weekend commitments
