Mammoth is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join its growing Discovery team. The Discovery team is responsible for developing novel CRISPR-associated (Cas) nucleases for genome editing and diagnostic applications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building infrastructure, developing and implementing computational tools essential to the development of new genome editing and diagnostic tools. These tools will span a wide breadth of technical areas including automated plasmid construction, Next-Generation sequencing (NGS) analysis, metagenomics, biological data analysis, and additional projects. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a diverse group of scientists and engineers to build new tools to beat COVID-19 and cure genetic disease.

    • Build and maintain AWS environment for automated plasmid construction, Next-Generation sequencing (NGS) analysis, metagenomics, biological data analysis
    • Deploy internal tools that can be used independently by biologists and other technical teams
    • Maintain and enhance the security of Mammoth's databases, pipelines, and web servers
    • Rigorously maintain records of tools developed
    • Work directly with technical teams to troubleshoot and improve pipelines
    • Document and regularly present data at internal meetings

    • 2 years of software engineering experience
    • Extensive experience with Native AWS Services (such as Batch, Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS)
    • Proficiency in Python, Linux (Bash), Django
    • Experience with web development tools (jQuery, HTML, CSS)
    • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL database technologies
    • Experience with git for code management
    • Strong understanding of engineering best practices: design, testing, version control, documentation

    • Understanding of Docker
    • Record of working collaboratively with scientists and engineers
    • Experience developing AWS NextFlow pipelines / Groovy
    • Experience with R
    • Experience building ML models (scikit, PyTorch / TensorFlow)
    • Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks such as ReactJS
    • Experience with Kubernetes
    • Familiarity with web servers (i.e. Apache)
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
