The Cell Culture and Medium Development Group within Preclinical Manufacturing and Process Development is looking for a motivated and talented person with a record of accomplishment and/or a strong interest in cell culture and data analysis. He/she will assist in medium development for mammalian cell culture processes, perform studies at small scale to develop cell culture medium that improves cell growth, cell productivity, and/or product quality. Familiarity/proficiency with data analysis techniques, programing and modeling is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Chemical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering/Bioengineering and/or Computer Science/Engineering with 0-5 years of work experience. Combination of an engineering and computer science or statistics degree/minor/concentration are desirable. Starting level would be determined by background experience.

We are looking for an engineer that will work independently to develop new areas of research in cell culture medium development.A Typical Day in This Role Might Look Like:
  • Execution and development of cell culture studies using aseptic technique in shaker flasks, ambr250, and bench scale bioreactors (50mL to 2-L scale)
  • Generate, manage, analyze, and maintain critical data in a highly organized manner
  • Coordination and interfacing with colleagues from other groups involved in the research process, including cell line development, bioreactor scale-up, purification, and manufacturing.
  • Compose technical reports, and/or oral presentations.
  • Investigate, create and implement new methods and technologies to improve medium formulations.
  • Contribute to upstream bioprocess data processing and analysis
  • Assist with Metabolic Flux Analysis (MFA), predictive modeling, statistical data analysis.
  • The position requires work on weekends and occasional travel to upstate NY
Preferred Familiarity with:
  • Statistical analysis (JMP, R or Python) Preferred
  • Programming (R, Python, or JSL)
  • Version control systems (Git)
  • Cell culture and bioreactor operations
This Role Might be For You If:
  • You have strong initiative and drive to complete challenging tasks and learn new technologies.
  • You are capable of multi-tasking, working both independently and within a team environment.
This position requires a BS or MS in Chemical Engineering or Bio-related Engineering with 0-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting and a GPA 3.0 or higher. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and record keeping abilities to accurately record, analyze, and document development data generated preferred. Candidates with internships in related fields are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional Skills (preferred, but not required): Prior industry experience, and experience with mammalian cell culture preferred; experience with developing fed-batch bioreactor processes including optimizing feeding strategies and evaluating different cell culture media and feed formulations desired. Experience with ambr250, experience with statistical design and analysis software (i.e. JMP) and/or experience with data analysis techniques, programming and modeling desired.
