Purpose:

Oversees the development, implementation and maintenance of quality assurance systems and strategic QC activities. Oversees generation and review of system rollout strategies used in good manufacturing practices and/or good laboratory practices areas. May lead or participate in audits of raw material vendors, contract laboratories and other vendors. Prepares manufacturing and/or Good Laboratory Practices documentation for QC systems in the event of Regulatory filings and for audits by external customers or Regulatory Agencies, as needed. Coordinates interdepartmental activities. Leads QC system launches and strategic projects to improve efficiency. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function

Responsibilities:
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives.
  • Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. Establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect subordinate organization(s).
  • Works on problems of diverse scope in which analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules an/or resolve technical problems. Develops and administers budgets, schedules and performance requirements. Erroneous decisions or failures to achieve goals results in additional costs and personal and serious delays in overall schedules.
  • Frequently interacts with customers (site QC personnel) and/or functional peer group managers. May interact with senior management. Interactions normally involve matters of a global QC nature.
  • Manages through subordinate supervisors the activities of a section(s) or department(s) with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods and employees. May be responsible for a functional area and may not have subordinate supervisors or employees. A portion of the time may be spent performing individual tasks.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree or equivalent education with typically 9+ years or PhD with typically 4+ years of experience in the function or closely related field
  • Strong quality assurance / control, manufacturing, laboratory, technical support, regulatory, and / or validation background is required.
  • Key leadership competencies include relationship-building, ability to influence at all levels, knowledge of the business, sound judgment, fostering teamwork, conflict resolution, strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide innovative ideas to improve quality and compliance that create value, including seeking new information and external insights.
  • Ability to interact and establish positive interaction with internal/external customers.
