The Company

BridgeBio exists to help patients. Millions worldwide are afflicted with genetic diseases, but small patient populations and industry reluctance to conduct early-stage development means that for many, treatments have not been forthcoming. We are committed to bridging this gap: between business case and scientific possibility, between patient and hope.

The Role

The People Team plays a critical role in enabling BridgeBio to achieve its mission. We empower BridgeBio people and teams to do their best work by attracting, engaging, and developing amazing team members. The Director, People & Culture will lead People Team efforts across a broad range of activities, from culture building to organizational effectiveness to change management to Diversity Equity & Inclusion (and beyond). This role requires the combination of strategic thinking, structured problem solving, analytics, research, and empathy to ensure BridgeBio's organizational health and culture are competitive differentiators over time.

The Director, People & Culture will play a pivotal role in helping the People Team reach our broader BridgeBio mission by applying a strategic and analytical lens to the following focus areas:
  • Change Management: Develop and implement change management playbook to "sell-through" People Team Processes at the all-company and affiliate levels.
  • Organizational effectiveness: Design organizational health model that can scale as new programs come on board. Uncover efficiencies that we as an organization can exploit: meeting strategies, using data to drive decisions, etc.
  • Culture building: Support the articulation and codification of the unique BridgeBio culture. Interface with other key stakeholders to incorporate culture tenets into People and broader systems and processes. Develop and implement standalone culture initiatives, including bringing ‘Project Community' and other initiatives from concept to execution- defining, re-enforcing and incentivizing norms and behavior across the company. Measuring and reporting the success of these initiatives through KPIs is critical.
  • DE&I: Work with leadership to strategize, design and execute efforts of Executive and Steering Committee
  • Business Partnership: Serve as a strategic though partner on People topics and first point-of-contact for People / HR issues for select BBP Affiliates.

Who You Are

A successful Director, People & Culture will be exceptional at:
  • Displaying Empathy: Our brand is built on showing empathy (for both employees and patients). This is ‘table stakes'.
  • Solving complex problems: Building a highly effective organization takes work. People are complex, as are people-related challenges. You must be able to understand, structure, and solve complex problems.
  • Process design: We need efficient people processes, not bureaucracy. You must have the ability to develop efficient processes across a range of people-related areas.
  • Analytics: We strive to base all of our decisions in data. You must have the ability to analyze data and surface relevant insights.
  • Taking ownership: We don't micromanage. You must take ownership of your work and drive it forward independently.
  • Communication: Coming up with great ideas is just the first part of the journey. You must produce compelling verbal and written communications to turn ideas into action.
  • Client Service: We exist to support our colleagues, not the other way around. You must have a client-service mindset, focused on doing whatever you can do help our colleagues succeed.
  • Building relationships: We won't be successful if we operate in a vacuum. We need to build strong relationships with colleagues across the organization. You must be able to build and maintain great relationships.
  • Getting it done: We work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. You must be able to operate in ambiguity and simply get things done.

The Director, People & Culture should have the following:
  • At least 4 years of experience in People Operations or a similar role
  • Ideally, experience in biotech / pharma
  • Ideally, experience in a fast-paced environment that requires critical and analytical thinking (e.g., top-tier graduate program or consulting firm)
  • Advanced scientific degree (preferred)
