Associate Director, Margin Planning and Reporting

The Associate Director, Margin Planning and Reporting will be responsible for the SAP Group Cost and Delta Profit and the related processes from both a system and data perspective. Ensures that the approved product financial flows are set up in SAP in compliance with AbbVie financial policies.

The primary goal of this role is to ensure that worldwide consolidated cost of inventory and inventory related expenses are created in accordance with policy and provided accurately to all of the AbbVie users and systems that require the data for financial reporting, forecasting and analysis.

This role will work with large amounts of data to prepare trend and variance reports designed to identify performance issues, currency exchange impacts.

The incumbent will also assist the entire margin group including, Transfer Price, Sales Reporting and Margin Accounting teams, to integrate the Allergan margin accounting functions within the accounting COE. Review the detail of the master-data setup, planning and reporting process of the Allergan migrated entities per transition calendar.

Heavy involvement in the preparation and communication of the group Plan/LBEs and Actual results.

Support cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives. Coordinate with multiple organizations including Commercial, Corporate FP&A, Operations, Consolidations, Tax, and R&D.

Major Responsibilities:

Review Group Cost & Delta Profit calculation and reporting for Actual reporting and Planning cycles including:
  • Execution of group costing in SAP for new revised legal cost or supply chains
  • Analyses to correct Group Cost discrepancies
  • Work with manufacturing plants and Financial Share Services teams (FSS) to ensure that the legal costs are updated in SAP in a timely manner
  • Develop inventory analysis reports and analyze variances. Work closely in conjunction with Operations to identify and resolve inventory variances in a timely manner
  • Copy activity rates between versions to properly account for currency exchange changes, necessary for Prelim/Final Plan and Ad-hoc requirements

Review and reconcile deferred/earned margin in the consolidation. Resolve affiliate product profitability issues associated with intercompany margin and product costing

Develop comprehensive re-measurements of exchange impacts of deferred margin on inventory. Prepare adjustments to monthly and year-end P&L and Balance Sheet

Oversee the preparation of deferred and earned margin by source for effective tax rate reporting and entity planning for quarterly and year-end reports related to deferred margin

Provide analysis of year-to-year changes in delta profit to support planning activities and profitability reviews for commercial affiliates worldwide, including extensive analysis of manufacturing cost change:

  • Calculate and analyze year over year cost changes for Prelim/Final Plan
  • Reconcile with Manufacturing Operations and provide summary analytics to support Global Commercial
  • Facilitate regular cross-functional reviews of product costs and financial flows and collaborate with key stakeholders and report any supply change impact to management
  • Develop and lead annual product group cost training for the Sales & Margin, FSS, and Manufacturing Finance teams

Maintain and execute an effective system of financial reporting and disclosure controls of AbbVie's Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance

Coordinate with AbbVie's internal and external auditors for audit and accounting-related requirements

Provide one-on-one and group education/training on the impact of product group cost planning on management reporting, profitability analysis, and earnings

Build strong understanding of all functions, including Transfer Pricing and Sales Reporting.

Accountability / Scope:

The information collected and distributed from SAP, provides the detailed framework for AbbVie's global consolidated cost reporting and planning. The information provides the basis by which product profitability is measured.

Accurate reporting and forecasting of the intercompany margin, updated with periodic LBE's is critical to AbbVie meeting its financial commitments.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelors Degree required: Accounting/Finance or related field.

Background:

Experience in the following:

  • SAP experience required
  • Cost Accounting experience in manufacturing strongly recommended
  • Experience in Supply Chain Finance Operations preferred
  • Consolidation and Reporting
  • Process or Data Management
  • Excellent analytical, communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to see a big picture and understand how the processes fit together
  • 9+ years of experience including leading cross functional teams, complex data analyses, independent problem solving and experience with SAP Costing
