As a member of the US Value & Access team, the Executive Director, Contracts and Pricing Operations will report to the VP, Value, Coverage & Pricing Strategy & Operations (VCPO), and will lead and manage the US Contracts and Pricing Operations organization, which includes Payer and Provider Discount Operations, Membership and Chargebacks, and Government Pricing functions. This position will be responsible for leading, developing and retaining a team of ~50-60 individuals as well as compliant, growth-driven contract implementation and execution. In addition to the management of contract operations, this individual will also serve as the business lead for the implementation and ongoing oversight of the organization's revenue management enterprise software application.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring compliance with timely and accurate execution of discounts for contracted customers at Amgen which includes applicable Commercial and Government contracts, validating and processing data from multiple sources including third parties, disputing and resolving data discrepancies
  • Strategizing around various innovative contracting opportunities with payers and providers and advising on operational feasibility of such arrangements
  • Ensuring that all audit and compliance obligations are met, including statutory government price reporting and internal audits (Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.)
  • Working with IS business partners and external vendors to ensure that system business requirements are accurately captured, delivered, and implemented throughout the revenue management system lifecycle
  • Developing innovative solutions and processes including the development of new approaches for projects, applications and department service offerings
  • Acting as a member of the VCPO senior leadership team, supporting ongoing team culture and professional development initiatives as well as providing leadership presence across VCPO functions

Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree in related discipline & 6 years of contracts/pricing experience, OR
  • Master's degree in related discipline & 10 years of contracts/pricing experience, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline& 12 years of contracts/pricing experience, AND
  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of complex market dynamics
  • Ability to see the big picture, collect and analyze information to enable relevant business analyses and influence decision-making
  • Experience with managed care and/or provider contracting operations, including chargebacks and membership management, process automation tools as well as government price reporting requirements
  • In a leadership capacity, has worked with technology vendors and internal cross-functional partners (IS, audit, etc.) on complex and long-term technology initiatives
  • Conceptual problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage execution
  • Motivate and lead high-performing teams
  • Manage (in a highly fluid, matrixed environment) multiple, complex projects to completion
  • Executive level oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Present to and influence executive management
  • Communicate at all organizational levels
