We seek a motivated R&D Specialist to join the technology development group which aims to develop novel viral vectors. The successful candidate should have a strong background in molecular biology, virology, and cell biology. Incumbent should be able to work with minimal supervision.

As the R&D Specialist, Viral Vector Technologies, a typical day might include the following:
  • Using recombinant DNA techniques to construct viral vectors.
  • Performing research requiring molecular biology techniques including qPCR, ddPCR, RNA and DNA isolation and purification from tissues samples.
  • Maintaining, transfecting, and transducing mammalian cell culture
  • Producing, purifying, quantifying, and characterizing viral vectors
  • Performing assays to characterize and assess quality of viral vectors
  • Evaluating virus transduction and transgene expression
  • Performing basic biochemical/immunological assays (Western blotting, ELISA, flow cytometry)

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a minimum of 3 years of research experience. Master's degree desired.Specific experience should include standard cloning techniques (including various DNA assembly methods), basic biochemistry, mammalian cell culture, and manipulation and purification of viruses in BSL2 conditions. Experience working with molecular biology tools and databases, including: MacVector / DNAStar Lasergene and VectorNTI, blast, ClustalW, GenBank, UniProt/SwissProt; solid understanding of statistical tools including excel and prism are desired. Incumbent is expected to craft experiments, analyze data, and interpret conclusion.
