We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a dynamic Collaboration & Government Grants Accounting team, with a high focus on accounting for our revenue generating agreements. You will be responsible for preparing accounting analyses and schedules. Under supervision, you will analyze information and ensure proper accounting treatment of transactions, specifically relating to accounts receivables and revenue recognition. You will be responsible for the compilation and submission of invoices for billings to our collaborators and government agencies and the preparation of accounting analyses as it relates to government grants. We work with other departments, including Finance, Treasury, and within Accounting to gather information vital for accurate accounting and invoicing. You will be responsible for ensuring that all internal control policies and procedures are followed.
A typical day might include the following:
  • Understand complex collaboration agreements, including, but not limited to, calculations for revenue recognition and review of the related accounts receivable
  • Journalize and prepare revenue reconciliations and aged receivables for Management reporting
  • Manage quarterly reconciliation of accounts receivable with Finance
  • Responsible for compilation/submission of invoices for billings to our collaborators and government agencies
  • Process, verify, and post payments to accurately generate invoices in various currencies, including understanding of respective tax jurisdictions
  • Ensure standardized invoice submission
  • Maintain a listing of invoice types by collaboration and government agency, including documenting/updating procedural manuals, as needed
  • Responsible for monthly data collection, analysis, preparation, and recording of accounting journal entries related to various government grants
  • Prepare and maintain monthly direct and indirect expense analyses for bi-annual audit sample selections
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of quarterly dashboards
  • Ensure compliance with Company's SOX controls

To be considered for this role, you have at least a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 2 - 4 years of proven Accounting experience. Technical accounting relating to US GAAP, and its application to tasks at hand, required. Experience with financial applications is preferred. Oracle experience, a plus.
