Regeneron Genetics Center, LLC is seeking an Associate Director, Clinical Informatics for our Tarrytown, NY location to provide strategic leadership to the RGC's clinical informatics group. Work with the Head of Clinical Informatics to develop relationships with data providers, such as healthcare systems and academic research networks and their informatics groups. Provide clinical input to the team of data analysts developing and executing queries for diverse stakeholders. Work with a team of database administrators, biostatisticians, clinical scientists, and programmers to structure and mine clinical and phenotypic data sets and support genomic studies and association analyses. Collaborate with cross functional teams to lead the development of clinical phenotype repositories and browsing applications to serve RGC research needs. Lead the development of standard operating procedures associated with clinical informatics operations. Conduct curation and analysis of clinical datasets to develop clinical phenotypes and cohorts of interest for association analysis and further drug development targets. Analyze raw clinical datasets from diverse sources (e.g. electronic health records from both inside and outside the us; large national biobanks; disease-specific registries) and convert this data into case/control phenotypes that are interpretable by geneticists to perform genetic association analyses. Lead the strategy for mapping diverse data sources (e.g. electronic health records from both inside and outside the us; large national biobanks; disease-specific registries) into a single, standard vocabulary and data model, i.e. ontology, that can be implemented and used by diverse stakeholders within the Regeneron Genetics Center. Lead the requirements-gathering process and development strategy for creating a new version of a phenotype browser that permits both search and statistical analysis of the clinical data sources within the Regeneron Genetics Center.

Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor of Science degree or foreign equivalent in Medical Science or a closely related field and 5 years of experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or health related industry. Must possess one of the following: a board certification in clinical informatics, or the completion of an NLM-sponsored fellowship, or the completion of an accredited Master's program in informatics; and 5 years of experience in the following: data mining, clinical databases, hospital health information systems, including EHRs, through work at or with an academic medical center; clinical data standards, including ICD, SNOMED, LOINC, RxNORM and OMOP, and database architecture and administration. Must have documented experience or coursework with HIPAA; IRB protocols around use of EHR data; working with investigators or as a principal investigator; relational and graph database concepts and query tools; and a track record of academic publication and/or federal grant support.
