ROLE SUMMARY

The Microbiologist will be expected to develop collaborative relationships with the staff in each of the Business Units and the appropriate Quality representatives in order to facilitate continuous improvement of the applicable areas. The incumbent needs to have experience in Environmental Monitoring and a thorough working knowledge of the appropriate regulations. This individual will be responsible for conducting routine area walk-throughs and identifying areas for potential microbial contamination, communicating findings, and driving appropriate corrective actions.

The individual will be expected to have knowledge of LIMS (or equivalent system) and be able to identify trends and aberrant sample results and assessing the impacted areas to determine root cause and assisting with ongoing investigations.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategically assesses statistical and report information from the LIMS database to determine if actions are necessary. Complete area walk-downs, identify areas for potential microbial contamination, communicate findings, and drive corrective actions. Assist with area investigations. Complete reports within the required timeframes. Protocols, documents, and reports will be presented to representatives from each of the Business Units and Quality Representatives. The individual will need to discuss the findings in the report with Outside Customers and Regulatory Agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or related science with 4-6 years' experience, pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Experience in aseptic processing
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with others to achieve team goals and expectations.
  • Must be familiar with laboratory systems such as LIMs, TrackWise.
  • Must be familiar with cGMP.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Prior trending experience preferred.
  • Must be able to effectively present and communicate findings.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Use computer terminal. Aseptic gowning qualification.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Overtime and weekend work is required as needed. Occasional travel may be required.
