Job Summary:

The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of routine and complex, confidential Human Resource activities to include employment, benefits, compensation, workers compensation, payroll, and record keeping and reporting functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare documents in support of various employee events including new hires, promotions, merit increases, transfers and separations and coordinating with managers as appropriate. Obtain all applicable signatures/approvals prior to processing.
  • Responsible for administration and auditing of employee benefit programs. Duties include processing all enrollments, changes, and terminations, answering employee benefit questions, acting as liaison with carriers and assisting with open enrollment process.
  • Assist with administration of team activities including new employee on-boarding process, benefit elections, various HRIS report generation, and safeguarding confidential/sensitive information.
  • Payroll responsibilities to include: process and oversee timely and accurate semi-monthly payroll for 100+ employees, familiarity with Paylocity Time & Labor and HR & Payroll functions a plus, monthly benefits invoice auditing.
  • Ensure all employee documents are filed timely and in correct (electronic and physical) file locations.
  • Primary contact for I-9 verification, Verifications of Employment, unemployment and state benefit summary inquires.
  • Ensure newly hired employees feel welcome and included and well informed about their transition into the company.
  • Develop strong working relationships to provide assistance and support of company & department initiatives (ie: Vividion events/meetings, trainings, etc.)
  • Serve as a role model for others to emulate as it relates to supporting the company culture and mission.
  • Support facilitation of employee and leadership training as needed on areas of expertise such as performance management, benefits, policy updates, etc.
  • Maintain knowledge of compliance, diversity-related issues, legislation and industry best practices.
  • Serve as primary contact for employee requests re: HRIS, benefits, workers’ compensation management and other administrative resources inquiries.
  • Identify employee concerns and actively work to resolve matters with Director of HR.
  • Partner with Director of HR through various internal and external audits and open enrollment initiatives.

Experience and education requirements:
  • Bachelor's (BA) in human resources, business, social sciences or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of human resources experience, preferably within the biotech industry.
  • Knowledge of current best practices and programs within the human resource field, including pertinent federal, state and local employment-related regulations and compliance matters.
  • Proven experience managing and performing payroll processes, including timekeeping and leave auditing. Experience using online payroll/HR systems and the ability to use software and databases to process a full range of personnel actions.
