The AbbVie U.S. Market Access organization is seeking a Lead of Payer Marketing for Eyecare, Anti-Infective and Hepatitis C, reporting to the VP U.S. Payer Marketing. Our talented, highly creative Payer Marketing professionals put AbbVie in the best position to achieve access and reimbursement for patients and providers by driving strategic direction, leading therapy area team, and creating targeted, channel specific value propositions to support access for ABBVIE products. Payer Marketers are among our most versatile performers and are involved in just about every aspect of our business. This involvement spans access strategy and profitability analysis, pipeline development and R&D, market research, market analytics and competitive intelligence, training, product launches, advertising and promotion, and post-market analysis.

The Payer Marketing Lead will have full strategic and tactical Payer Marketing accountability for the U.S.'s Eyecare, Anti-Infective and Hepatitis C franchises. These diverse products span retail, specialty, physician administered, Buy and bill and device markets and represent over 5.0B in sales. In addition, this portion for the portfolio spans both Medical Therapeutics and US Specialty and pairs directly with 5 Marketing VPS in respective therapeutic areas

As a member of the U.S. Market Access Leadership Team, primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Direct, initiate, and oversee the development of effective market access marketing strategies that are executable, easily communicated, and clinically supported.
  • Build current and future competitive advantage by understanding & addressing key payers needs and reimbursement landscape, and by demonstrating deep understanding of marketplace and competitors' strategies.
  • Be the leadership point of contact for Eyecare, Anti- Infective and Hepatitis C Marketing VPS
  • Represent Market Access on brand Steering IBTS across multiple franchises
  • Lead and develop Eyecare, Hepatitis and Anti-infective Payer Marketing teams in support of over 10 marketed brands
  • Co Partner with Immunology Market Access Lead on Blue team priorities
  • Develop long term plan for sustained profitable access across all TAs, Ensure timely guidance to senior management regarding the access strategy across brands; lead the long-range plan process for payers, and Plan, LBE & LRP financial guidance for market access.
  • Ensure market access strategies account for Government and Policy risks; partner with government affairs on key priorities for each TA
  • Establish a productive work environment by creating trust and respect within the teams
  • Create and optimize the organizational structure to meet market and franchise needs
  • Partner with cross-functional groups (HEOR, Legal, Regulatory, Medical, Account Management, Sales, Training, MABI, Finance, HR, OEC, etc.) to ensure Value Propositions and Account tools and resources are aligned to business needs
  • Create opportunities to fully develop the marketing teams. Build and develop an organization reflecting a diverse workforce.
  • Balance business priorities and resources, adapting to the external and internal environment.
  • Position requires excellent communication skills and strong analytical skills to understand scientific and financial data, recognize key issues, establish priorities, and prepare high-level presentations for senior executive staff review.
  • Supervisory/Management Responsibilities - will lead a staff of Directors (i.e., People Leaders of other People Leaders).

Qualifications

Key Qualifications and Experiences:
  • 12+ years of progressive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a strong foundation in Marketing and/or Market Access including successful product launch
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership and team management experience
  • Market Access Experience strongly preferred, preferably 5+ years of leadership experience at a minimum.
  • Deep understanding of Reimbursement, Payer Environment, Environmental Risks and National Account Customers
  • Experience in multiple channels and reimbursement modalities preferred; Buy and Bill, Retail, Specialty, Institutional and Government.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • U.S. experience required with strong skills and cultural sensitivity to work effectively with cross functional teams. Demonstrated ability to influence and manage a complex set of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong executive presence and leadership skills are imperative as this leader will serve as a key role model in the organization spanning multiple business units and legacy organizations
  • Demonstrated and consistent experience in successfully leading organizational change.
  • Outstanding partnering skills and the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team and drive commercial decisions in a highly-matrixed organization to accomplish business goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead teams and have the managerial courage to make and stand by difficult decisions.
  • Capable of attracting and developing world-class commercial talent.
  • Strong communication and negotiating skills required.
