Position Summary:

The Associate Director, Patient and Access Analytics is responsible for supporting and leading continuous improvement and operational excellence efforts to build and improve scalable business processes in Market Access and Patient Services across Horizon's product portfolio. Specifically, this role partners across Patient Services, Market Access and other data analytics functions to scope, prioritize, and deliver data analyses that inform process improvement decisions and ongoing process performance monitoring. Example Market Access business processes include, but are not limited to providing regular and ad hoc analysis on patient level data from internal systems, payer coverage and access tracking, payer marketing initiatives, contracting, lifecycle value and pricing analytics. Modeling and forecasting of access and trends will provide additional support.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Market Access cross-functional teams and franchise analytics as an analytical thought leader providing informative & relevant insights to inform access strategy and tactics, support ongoing and planned contracting strategy and maximize pull-through effectiveness
  • Analyze Patient Journey through data mining internal HUB data
  • Partner with other internal analytics teams to keep Patient Services reporting systems robust and easy to navigate
  • Ensure alignment between Market Access, Commercial Operations, and Finance when gathering, prioritizing, delivering, and maintaining data and technology investments
  • Assess business process effectiveness by analyzing baseline performance data (e.g., KPIs) at national and in local market levels to drive brand performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Identify business requirements for performance dashboards and control charts as necessary to monitor process performance
  • Create and maintain prioritization processes and criteria (e.g., ROI) for Market Access investments
  • Support executive stakeholder requests requiring a consultative and resourceful approach clearly articulates business issue and develops effective recommendations
  • Deliver informative analytics quantifying contract effectiveness and payer access channel strategy across Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid
  • Facilitate and support root cause analyses by analyzing data to test hypotheses
  • Identify priority investments in Market Access systems, data, processes, and competencies that are necessary for Market Access functions to achieve and exceed business goals
  • Work with Forecasting teams to ensure impact of Market Access related events and initiatives are accurately dialed in the forecast
  • Partner with cross functional teams to share key insights by sharing the "story" behind the data

 


Qualifications and Preferred Skills:

 

 

  • B.A. or B.S. Degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • 8+ years of related experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotech industry, including significant buy and bill product experience
  • 5+ years of related experience in healthcare analytics is critical, preferably in Managed Markets or Market Access
  • Proficient in two or more of MS Excel, Power of BI, CRM/Salesforce.com reporting, VBA, Tableau, SQL or SAS programming.
  • Specialty, infusible and/or rare disease experience preferred
  • Recent launch experience and entry into new therapeutic areas strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding and experience with pharmaceutical (including specialty, payer formulary, claims, hub) data sets, analytical approaches, research methods and ability to present results to key stakeholders
  • Ability to set-up segmentation, clustering or multi-variate regression analysis
  • Familiarity with data reporting and visualization tools
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to translate complex reports and analyses into easy to understand presentations; proven ability to effectively present results to internal clients at the executive level
  • Business Acumen - ability to link multiple insights across brands and channels to generate insights, prioritize business questions and develop effective recommendations
  • Proven record of success in working with cross-functional teams (e.g., managed markets, pricing, analytics, sales, marketing); demonstrated ability to successfully influence multiple levels of an organization, both internally and externally
  • Strong attention to detail combined with a keen ability to recognize issues in the context of higher-level policies and regulations
  • Strong leadership, planning and organization, analytics, decision-making and problem-solving skills; focus on delivery of results
  • Strong interpersonal and peer leadership skills to influence without authority; ability to work cross-functionally in a highly dynamic environment with a high sense of urgency
  • Self-starter who functions well both independently and within a team
  • Experience successfully managing budgets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; excellent presentation and power point skills
  • Professional, proactive demeanor
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
