Global Protein Sciences (GPS) is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the Protein Purification Group at the AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester, MA. As a member of the group, the candidate will be responsible for the purification of reagents critical to advance the discovery pipeline. The successful candidate will have experience in protein purification and analysis, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset to efficiently work in a team.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Follow and modify protocols as necessary to purify recombinant proteins using various chromatographic methods
  • Work with AKTA FPLC systems and Unicorn software to enable efficient processes
  • Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab
  • Effectively coordinate with colleagues and research teams
  • Learn and effectively implement new experimental protocols
  • Consult relevant scientific literature to understand project context
  • Effectively communicate research progress through oral presentations and written documentation
  • Keep accurate, detailed, and timely records of laboratory work

Qualifications

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with typically 0-3+ (BS) years of experience, or 0+ (MS) years of experience
  • Strong laboratory skills, effective documentation skills and the ability to analyze and report results clearly
  • Candidate will have experience in purification of proteins from E. coli, insect, and human cell culture systems using chromatographic methods including SEC, ion-exchange, and affinity capture
  • Experience with AKTA FPLC systems and Unicorn software
  • Experience with protein analysis: SDS-PAGE, western blot, and analytic SEC
  • Experience in preparation/purification of membrane proteins or virus-like particles is desired
  • Experience in molecular cloning and expression construct design a plus
