What Your New Manager Wants You To Know

The Medical Affairs Director/Sr.Director, Global Toxin Science provides Medical and Scientific global support to BOTOX ® positioning and differentiation across all therapeutic areas. Responsible for developing and maintaining a current and extensive understanding of the botulinum toxin landscape and for communicating BOTOX ® Medical and Scientific positioning through the creation and delivery of evidence-based scientific publications and reviews, presentations to clinical, academic, payer, and managed care professionals, the drafting of regular scientific reports on high value data, and serving as the internal liaison for Medical Affairs and commercial training initiatives related to competitor products and activities. Also, provides Medical and Scientific to the planning and implementation of new toxin assets, formulations, pre-clinical, and post-marketing clinical studies to support BOTOX differentiation and positioning. Further responsibilities include provision of a scientific and clinical interface to External Experts (EEs). Also works with the Global marketing teams to support the development of corporate strategy grounded in strong scientific data. The position is within Global Medical Affairs team and can be located globally.

You Will

Develop and communicate BOTOX scientific competitive positioning to key internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare manuscripts internally and externally, educating the field on important topics such as impact of non-medical toxin switching, immunogenicity and BoNT non-interchangeability.
  • Develop scientific content for MSL field presentations and interactions, and internal education materials for commercial teams.
  • Provide toxin science and differentiation leadership to payer RSS related activities and materials.
  • Provide scientific support to global marketing and health outcomes teams to ensure alignment of competitive message development with relevant scientific and clinical data.
  • Ensure consistent integration of key toxin differentiation messages across Botox franchises.
  • D rive data generation supporting Botox differentiation and non-interchangeability.
  • Develop scientific content for MSL field presentations and interactions, and internal education materials for commercial teams.
  • Support the Toxin Differentiation Team by providing critical analysis and scientific oversight to key business objectives related to competitor activities.
  • Lead the cross-functional BOTOX ® Competitive Strategy Forum.
  • Support activities and strategic direction of Medical Affairs Competitive Differentiation Team (MACDT), Global Scientific Advisor Team (GSAT) and global RSS Therapeutic Leads for Toxin Science and Competitive Differentiation.
  • Effectively communicate positioning and strategies to commercial management teams, advertising/PR agency, as well as to outside vendors and consultants as appropriate.
  • Ensure corporate readiness for potential new market entrants through collaboration with GSM and R&D and provision of regular analysis of key competitor development timelines and scientific/clinical data.

Medical Affairs International Scientific Advisor Support
  • Stay informed of current developments in the medical and scientific communities concerning assigned areas through appropriate familiarity with current literature, attendance at meetings, conventions, and professional associations.
  • Provide strategic medical practice input to ensure that appropriate Phase 3b/IV studies are planned and executed.
  • Function as key strategic partner with Clinical Development, HEOR, Marketing, Regulatory, and Legal teams to execute medical life cycle plan; implementing strategies and tactics in support of Botox.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with External Experts in respective therapeutic area to establish strong scientific presence in the practicing and academic communities.



You Bring
  • Ph.D, MD, or Pharm D required.
  • 10+ years total experience, of which 7+ years in academic research, clinical practice, regulatory/scientific, or medical liaison environment.
  • Experience in Neurology or central nervous system (CNS) disciplines preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of inner workings of a physician's practice.
  • Scientific and pharmaceutical knowledge and/or experience to enable ability to effectively learn and convey clinical and non-clinical technical information.
  • Proficiency in database searching and knowledge of evidence-based medicine concepts and criteria.
  • Ability to lead and influence key decision makers and develop and maintain strong relationships in order to work closely with outside physicians/scientists, and numerous in-house support groups.
  • Willingness to travel to domestic and international locations.
  • Proven abilities in business planning with financial/budgetary experience
