Job Details

This position performs bioanalytical method development and analysis for non-clinical pharmaceutical analyses using LC/MS and LC/MS/MS techniques. This position also provides other necessary bioanalytical and mass spectrometry support to the company in small and large therapeutic molecules.

Who is Omeros?

Small-molecule inhibitors of GPR174 are part of Omeros' proprietary G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) platform through which it controls 54 new GPCR drug targets and their corresponding compounds. The company also exclusively possesses a novel antibody-generating platform.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops and utilizes methods for non-clinical analysis of potential drug candidates in in-vivo and in-vitro biological samples; samples are analyzed utilizing LC/MS and LC/MS/MS techniques
  • Quantifies drug and metabolite compounds through LC/MS/MS in biological matrices of small and large therapeutic molecules. Develops HPLC and MS/MS method for the assay
  • Completes MS/MS structural elucidation on unknown metabolites or related substances with little to no technical assistance from supervisor
  • Makes detailed observations, analyzes data, interprets and presents results, using fundamental pharmacokinetic and ADME principals. Makes recommendations of the rank order of compounds in lead optimization/candidate selection from animal PK data and/or in vitro analyses
  • Investigates, creates and develops new sample analysis/extraction preparation methodologies and technologies for project and product advancement
  • Maintains high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature, on-line seminars or workshop attendance
  • Contributes in the training (extraction techniques, HPLC/MS operation) and preparation of new-hire Research Associates
  • May participate in scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years related experience or Masters degree with equivalent experience; level will be dependent on skills and experience
  • Experience with mass spectrometry and HPLC/MS and MS/MS techniques with an analytical and method development background
  • Knowledge of pharmacokinetics and previous experience with preclinical ADME work is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of scientific principals and concepts
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheet, database management, pharmacokinetic (WinNonlin) software, presentation software and Internet search engines
  • Must have the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with management, peers, and subordinates
  • Excellent written and verbal skills required
  • Must display strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail required
  • Must be able to work in a flexible environment
  • Intermittent physical activity including bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, or lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • May encounter prolonged periods of sitting or standing
  • This position requires working around hazardous material
