The Genetics Research Center (GRC) is a newly created center of excellence for genetics and genomics that supports both Discovery and Development. The GRC will play an integral role towards our goal of developing world class genetics and genomics research, focusing on finding the right targets and helping us better understand not only human disease biology but also the behavior of and response to our drugs in clinical trials. As one of the pillars of the GRC, the Department of Genomic Medicine is responsible for analyzing and interpreting data from clinical samples and to identify and characterize novel targets for the treatment of diseases across multiple therapeutic areas. We have an exciting opportunity for a Scientist, based in North Chicago, IL.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize assays and cellular models for interrogation of biological questions across therapeutic areas, and perform standard biochemical, cellular and molecular techniques.
  • Develop and optimize assays and perform analysis of samples from clinical trials.
  • Generate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner. Analyze, organize and manage data independently. Generate reports and present to the team.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary research team in an exciting, fast-paced environment under the mentorship of a supervisor.
  • Keep accurate and current records of research and/or experiments.



Position will be hired based on level of experience.
  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences field with a minimum of 0-2+ years (MS) or 3-5+ years (BS) of relevant experience
  • The ideal candidate should have a strong base of knowledge and experience in cell and molecular biology techniques, with hands on experience in DNA and RNA methods including PCR and gene expression analysis, as well as in protein techniques including immunoprecipitation, western blotting, ELISA and flow cytometry
  • Experience in next generation sequencing and cell culture methods would be a plus
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Great organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
