Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Senior Facilities Project Engineer at our new state-of-the-art cell therapy commercial manufacturing facility in Frederick, Maryland.

Key responsibilities:
  • Sr Facilities Project Engineer Site Electrical SME supporting the start-up and operation of a fully automated cell therapy green field manufacturing facility
  • Oversee all aspects of site electrical design, installation, maintenance, and improvements
  • Work cross functionally with site representatives and vendors to define requirements
  • Provides accurate budget and schedule estimates for capital equipment and projects
  • Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up on orders, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.
  • Execute design, procurement, and C&Q activities for capital projects
  • Review technical documentation (protocols & reports for FATs, SATs, IQ/OQ, Turn over packages)
  • Executes change control and change management including cost and change justification during startup and C&Q activities
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining equipment records, spare parts lists, maintenance and calibration plans.
  • May coordinate contract personnel through completion of assignments; may provide guidance to other engineers and technicians

Basic Qualifications:
  • Advanced scientific degree (i.e. MD, PharmD, PhD) OR
  • MS Degree and 6+ years' experience with electrical in a manufacturing facility OR
  • BS Degree and 8+ years' experience with electrical in a manufacturing facility OR
  • High School Degree and 12+ years' experience in with electrical in a manufacturing facility

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in design, electrical code interpretation and understanding, and field installation supervision
  • cGMP commercial manufacturing and regulatory requirements for pharmaceuticals and devices
  • Mastery of engineering principles
  • Power systems for commercial manufacturing facilities including backup power generation and UPS systems
  • Electrical distribution supporting cGMP manufacturing
  • Experience with other utility systems such as boilers, chillers and water systems
  • Understands and employs principles and concepts of Lean Six Sigma to improve process capability is a plus
  • Should be capable of directing and supervising contract work
  • Ability to generate, read and interpret drawings such as electrical schematics, sequence of operations, PFDs and P&IDs
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation and controls, as well as PLCs and DCS
  • Knowledge of plant control systems such as BMS and CPMS
  • Ability to think critically, and demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to function efficiently and independently in a changing environment
  • Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description
  • Well-developed computer skills
