Novartis Gene Therapies is seeking an intern student enrolled in an electrical, computer, mechanical, chemical engineering or related degree program at a 4-year college institution to work within our Operational Technology/Automation Engineering team (OT/A). This team is responsible for all automation activities at the Novartis Gene Therapies manufacturing facility in Durham, NC, including process control systems, automated process equipment, and network infrastructure. The selected student will be responsible for supporting OT/A engineers in maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying the GMP and non-GMP control systems and infrastructure. Specific systems include plant wide Distributed Control System (DeltaV), Building Management System (Rockwell SCADA) and 3rd party local control systems.
Responsibilities
Be part of a team of automation engineers supporting the manufacturing facility. Assist other automation engineers with small projects, systems administration and ensuring highly available system for the manufacturing process.

The level of this position will be based on the final candidate's qualifications.

Qualifications
- Enrolled in a 4-year engineering (electrical, computer, mechanical, chemical) or related field of study
- Interest in software/hardware to control manufacturing equipment
- Previous experience with control systems (DCS, PLC) and/or manufacturing systems a plus
