  1. JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the I&C/Metrology group, support the maintenance and engineering departments to maintain equipment and controls systems throughout the facilities. This includes system level troubleshooting and implementing corrective actions as well as routine activities such as system maintenance. Support new equipment installation and upgrades.

  1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and act as system administrator for in-house SCADA and other building systems. This will include field wiring and field installment, and oversight of contractors
  • Troubleshoot the automation systems on process equipment typical to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Perform basic code and program changes to implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct investigations to support deviations and author investigation reports.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, electrical one-line diagrams, and specification relate to automation and facility electrical systems.
  • Assist with plant electrical reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement of the plant reliability of controls and instrumentation systems through the application of effective reliability strategies, root cause analysis, problem solving and sound engineering practice.
  • Assist with the design, implementation, validation and maintenance of controls systems and equipment
  • Perform critical assessments when there are unexpected equipment failures to determine if changes to the maintenance program for the instrumentation and/or software platforms are appropriate.
  • Support Commissioning and FAT/SAT's as required.


  • Requires vaccination against different viruses including vaccinia virus.

III. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
  • An Associate Degree or higher in Instrumentation/Controls or Electrical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 of years of experience as an Instrumentation and Control Specialist
  • PLC and HMI programming of the major brands including Allen Bradley, Omron, Mitsubishi, and Siemens. Experience with additional brands will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years experienced with PLC networks, industrial networking, controls, distribution panels, breakers, and switches
  • Strong analytical, communication (oral & written) and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of various types of control valves, transmitters (pressure, temperature, flow etc.)
  • Understanding of the engineering documents associated with controls such as: P&ID's, loop sheets, panel layouts, control narratives, logic diagrams, etc. Familiarity with national standards (NEC), and regulations.
