This role will be Part of the forming Direct sourcing team and supporting the Device supply chain operation. Responsible for strategic CMO sourcing and Relationship Management to drive on time supply, right quality, cost savings and ensure best value purchasing decisions.

This position will be a key role supporting Emergent's Medical Devices Business Unit. The Devices BU is a growing segment of the Emergent network and we are expanding the support and oversight of our Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program. This position will require a self-motivated strategic thinker with a hands-on approach as the systems are developed and refined for a world class SRM program.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading sourcing & contract development and maintenance within the BU. Will be responsible for Supplier negotiations, discussions, selection and keep a pulse on the market landscape supporting the Devices R & D programs. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the oversite of all our commercial manufacturing contracts within the BU and facilitate all communications regarding supplier pricing and requests for work to be completed.

This position will regularly work across functions and at all levels within the Organization. Must be service oriented but focused on delivering on Emergent's Global Supply Chain Core Value proposition of Spend Value, Efficiency and De-Risking of the end to end supply chain.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage the Global Device CMO Category.
  • The Main focal point and liaison with the Device BU Contract Manufacturers for R&D and launch activities.
  • Build solid relationships as part of the CMO Relationship Management process to assure competitive price, high performance, support, and supply.
  • Lead the creation, negotiation, re-negotiation and execution of development agreement, MSA and supply agreement with the CMO for Development and commercial products, concur with Emergent and sourcing strategy.
  • Deliver year on year Cost Saving and Identify and implement new Cost Saving projects in line with Global Sourcing and Procurement savings objectives
  • Develop and implement approved strategies for Devices BU that actively search for performance improvement and cost reduction opportunities by understanding customer needs, supply market trends and innovation
  • Works in partnership with the BU Supply Chain organization to align project needs, strategy and build together short and long mitigation plan and develop CMO KPI and scorecard.
  • Work together with the CMO to apply Best sourcing and Procurement processes & practices at their Organization, for efficiencies and improved COGs and risk mitigation planning.
  • Work closely with the Device R&D teams to understand the scope and requirements and verify the CMO delivers our needs and committed milestones.
  • Drive supplier performance, contract effectiveness, collaboration and integration and deliver improved results with key suppliers within assigned commodities. Responsible for supplier performance and rating based on Key Performance Metrics (KPI) for Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Conduct and follow up Purchase Price Variance (PPV) activities, budgeting, forecast and actual, and annual price negotiations as well as any other initiatives for assigned commodities.
  • Using industry best practices, develop scalable SRM model and pilot in the Devices BU. PDSA program and improve as needed. Prepare to deploy across entire Emergent network
  • Advise leadership on alternate global supply sources, pricing trends and supply/demand situations that could impact the business.
  • Develops, oversees, and coordinates the relationship between Emergent and Suppliers within the Device BU. Plans and runs Supplier Meetings, QBR's and initiatives, develop goals, objectives, measures, and procedures to ensure supplier satisfaction.
  • Leverage and utilize Operational Excellence tools and resources to institutionalize the Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Facilitate integrated risk management life cycle in partnership with key functions (QA, Tech Ops, & Supply Chain) - identification, assessment, mitigation planning and execution. Establish business cases for significant investments
  • Identifies new opportunities to create value and develops creative, mutually beneficial solutions
  • Develop strategic partnerships with supplier partners by developing a working knowledge of their business goals, challenges, and infrastructure configurations to ensure an outstanding relationship experience.
  • Establish and maintain market intel and supplier base knowledge. Identify relevant players, obtain competitive pricing, production understanding, and technology capabilities.
  • Establish solid relationships with majority of the market space suppliers. Become the SME in this area. working specifically with our commercial, marketing and category management. Create the database to maintain the history and market knowledge.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to analyze supplier's operations to determine factors that affect prices and determine lowest cost consistent with quality and delivery requirements
  • Execute industry-standard sourcing strategist/processes, tools and measurements in conjunction with Legal and Finance.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
• Bachelor's degree in Eng, Science or related field required.
• MBA preferred.
• 10 years of Direct Sourcing and category management within the Pharma or related industry.
• Manage global CMO and/or Device category is required.
• R&D sourcing experience including Devices is preferred.
• Global contract negotiations and YOY cost savings is required.
• Demonstrated experience in successfully working in a matrixed environment.
