Job Description

Kite, a Gilead Company, is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel cancer immunotherapy products designed to harness the power of a patient's own immune system to selectively target and kill cancer cells. Our core technology involves the genetic engineering of T cells, or white blood cells, to express either chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) or T cell receptors (TCRs) for the treatment of advanced solid and hematological malignancies.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with scientific background and laboratory management experience to join us a Manager of Lab Operations. The successful candidate will perform laboratory operations and management to enable our Research organization in advancing our exciting and expansive CAR T and TCR pipelines and next-generation adaptive immunotherapy.

Responsibilities to include (but not limited to):
  • Working closely with scientific staff to evaluate the needs to optimize laboratory operations, including new equipment acquisitions, coordinate facility activities and capital projects, scheduling educational seminars, hosting regular operations updates and supporting new employee on-boarding.
  • Coordinate and work with with supply centers & lead department purchasing
  • Aid in the optimization of laboratory organization
  • Perform regular audits to ensure safety compliance within the lab area
  • Collaborate with key partners such as Environmental Health Services, Facilities, Purchasing, etc.
  • Oversee continuous improvement efforts to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Associates Degree / High School with 7+/9+ years of experience in the Life Sciences Field


Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS with 5+ years of experience in the Life Sciences Field OR
  • Associates Degree / High School with 7+/9+ years of experience in the Life Sciences Field


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading the laboratory operations
  • Experience managing purchasing and general supply of laboratory supplies and reagents, working with cross-functional groups to track orders, reconcile orders, invoices, and receipt confirmations
  • Experience overseeing research MSA/MTA/SOW processes for laboratory services and laboratory materials
  • Experience leading and tracking capital equipment purchases and installations for the Research Department in collaboration with the leadership team, finance, and facilities
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with other departments such as: Legal, Facilities, Finance, and IT teams
  • Experience overseeing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures for equipment maintenance, laboratory cleanliness and organization, and Environmental Health and Safety requirements
  • Experience leading Environmental Health and Safety initiatives seeking to continually improve safety culture and processes with the EHS department
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are critical.
