Job Description:

The Associate Director, Field Medical Excellence will drive the development & implementation of educational initiatives in a manner consistent with best practices, applicable law, regulations, & relevant SOPs. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify training opportunities to ensure best in class MSL training and monitor training outcomes through key performance indicators.

Responsibilities
  • Develop annual training plan & curriculum to support Ipsen's product portfolio, life-cycle management (LCM) & disease area requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (i.e., US Medical Affairs, Global Medical Affairs, Training & Development, Clinical Operations, Medical Directors, R&D, Medical Information, Publications) to identify training opportunities to ensure best in class MSL program for existing employees and new hires.
  • Lead development of new training content to meet changing knowledge & capability requirements of field medical team.
  • Drive the development & implementation of educational initiatives in a manner consistent with best practices, applicable law, regulations, & relevant SOPs.
  • Manage MSL Skills Assessment & MSL Capability Continuum Programs created for Ipsen by Zipher to support USMA MSL Training Curriculum.
  • Serve as a key clinical/scientific resource & mentor to field medical team & internal colleagues by providing ongoing product & disease state education training.
  • Implement innovative training curriculum using blended approaches (i.e., live training, WebEx, interactive workshops, podcast, virtual learning, expert led workshops, peer to peer).
  • Collaborate with Training & Development and Global Medial Affairs on tools & services to support field medical activities & training.
  • Assist with creation of resources & processes to support MSL activities (i.e., proactive and reactive field initiatives) in collaboration with medical, legal & regulatory.
  • Oversee field medical affairs information technology & training resources, including websites (SharePoint, BOX, Survey Monkey, VEEVA CRM).
  • Coordinate & organize all training material into a concise and easily accessible format.
  • Identify resources, timelines, & vendors to execute each component of training program.
  • Search for gaps in training material or content that should be filled to ensure a best in class training experience.
  • Communicate with team members, trainers, and management to ensure all needs are met.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and analysis of training cross functions and supports training efforts that drive improvements in MSL effectiveness.
  • Implement training curriculum via scheduled teleconference series, live, written & online.
  • Create dashboard & key performance indicators to training track progress & outcomes.
  • Maintain records of MSL ILP, internal training, ACPE, CME, testing/certifications & assessments to monitor progress.
  • Continually provide feedback & input on ways to improve medical Learning & MSL Capabilities Continuum.
  • Maintain documentation records for MSL USA medical training.
  • Monitor program budgets and upwardly manage project scope as needed.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree, Advanced Degree (PhD, PharmD, etc.)
  • Experience as an MSL, 5-10 years of scientific training & development experience, & MSL training experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Demonstrated strong performance reviews.
  • Demonstrated Ipsen's One Way of Being Behaviors.


Core Competencies
  • Strong teaching skills; established track record of effective oral presentations.
  • Strong communication skills demonstrating executive presence.
  • Significant experience working with cross-functional groups made up of two or more of the following: Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Market Research, or Finance.
  • Excellent quantitative abilities and excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
  • Ability to combine big-picture, long-term orientation with understanding of details, and sense of urgency to deliver quality results.
  • Expertise in critically evaluating scientific literature.
  • Knowledge of PhRMA, OIG & other guidelines relating to compliant medical communications.
  • Demonstrated expertise to synthesize & communicate medical information clearly.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel 50-60% to attend medical congress meetings and meetings in Cambridge, MA.
