Molecular Templates is seeking an accomplished and highly-motivated Scientist to join the Molecular Biology group as part of the research and development (R&D) team. This position will be primarily lab-based and focused on the design, production, characterization, and optimization of novel biologics and ETBs. The Scientist will contribute to the advancement of platform technology through the application of in silico tools and strategic in vitro study design. The Scientist is expected to work on projects with minimal direct supervision and apply good judgment within defined procedures and practices to define appropriate actions. The Scientist may work with more junior team members to train and mentor them. In addition, they may lead R&D projects to drive the forward progress of pipeline candidates at the discretion of the management team and in line with R&D priorities.

Job Responsibilities will include:
  • Independently designs, executes, and troubleshoots experiments in order to evaluate activity of novel biologics and ETBs
  • Based on methods utilized across industry, develops in silico tools, in vitro assays and experimental systems for use at MTEM to interrogate ETB biology. This includes assay development and validation, SOP generation and training.
  • Execute and manage projects of defined scope to describe the physical, biochemical, and functional profile of candidate ETBs, as directed by project team leaders
  • Apply new technologies to optimize and develop new screening methods for the evaluation and rapid identification of novel biotherapeutics.
  • Analyzes data and draws logical conclusions to define further action and effectively communicate to team members and management in a timely manner
  • Maintain knowledge of scientific trends, industry processes and pipeline target literature through readings, conferences and seminars in order to contribute to strategic development of novel ETB platforms.
  • Document all procedures in an accurate and timely manner.
