The Associate Director of Distribution and Trade Operations leads the program implementation and account management for distribution of Omeros" commercial products across all therapeutic areas. Primary responsibilities include the leadership of distribution and channel strategy management, strategic account planning, contracting and activities associated with getting Omeros' medicines to patients. This role has responsibility for all Channels of distribution; wholesalers, specialty distributors, specialty pharmacies, third-party logistics service providers (3PL), and others.

Who is Omeros?

Omeros is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company committed to discovering, developing and commercializing small-molecule and protein therapeutics for large-market as well as orphan indications targeting inflammation, complement-mediated diseases and disorders of the central nervous system.

The company's drug product OMIDRIA® (phenylephrine and ketorolac intraocular solution) 1% / 0.3% is marketed in the U.S. for use during cataract surgery or intraocular lens (IOL) replacement to maintain pupil size by preventing intraoperative miosis (pupil constriction) and to reduce postoperative ocular pain. In the European Union, the European Commission has approved OMIDRIA for use in cataract surgery and other IOL replacement procedures to maintain mydriasis (pupil dilation), prevent miosis (pupil constriction), and to reduce postoperative eye pain.

Omeros has multiple Phase 3 and Phase 2 clinical-stage development programs focused on: complement-associated thrombotic microangiopathies; complement-mediated glomerulonephropathies; Huntington's disease and cognitive impairment; and addictive and compulsive disorders. In addition, Omeros has a diverse group of preclinical programs and a proprietary G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) platform through which it controls 54 new GPCR drug targets and corresponding compounds, a number of which are in preclinical development. The company also exclusively possesses a novel antibody-generating platform.

The leader of this job function works closely with the following cross-functional departments:

CMC and Supply Chain
  • Ensures that adequate supply of product is available at the chosen warehouse or 3PL
  • Closely monitors shipping to the network of distributors so that inventory levels meet demand and sufficient product resides within the Distribution Channel
  • Uses data reports to monitor and provide updates throughout this process
Legal and Finance departments
  • Creates and implements SOP's for tracking chargebacks, returns according to policy, pricing and contract terms
  • Creates and implements Distributor contracts and service agreements according to company strategies
Sales and Marketing
  • Provides regular updates and quarterly business reviews
  • Attends POA and National Sales meetings to provide training and presentations as needed
  • Works closely with Sales teams to troubleshoot problems with shipping issues
Currently reports to Sr. Director, Market Access but may report to the following individuals: VP or AVP or Operations or similar

What will your responsibilities be?

Your specific job responsibilities will include:
  • Serves as Omeros' external point-of-contact for relevant issues, questions or other matters related to channel strategies and distribution networks
  • Partners with Senior and Executive Management, Finance and Sales Operations in the implementation of product channel strategies and modifications based on ongoing market dynamics. Includes continually reviewing existing programs and evaluating additional development as needed
  • Leads the negotiation strategy and execution of channel contracts within the approved guidelines and terms
  • Develops long-term strategic plans for the Trade and Channel accounts in support of business and brand and access objectives
  • Sets appropriate metrics and KPIs (key performance indicators) to help monitor and measure performance of Omeros' distribution networks and agreements. Ensures appropriate business reviews are completed
  • Develops a mission and vision for Distribution and Trade Operations and measures and communicates the value and strategy to internal stakeholders
  • Collaborates and cultivates important and influential relationships with cross-functional business partners and stakeholders, including broader Managed Markets and the Product Brand teams
  • Works closely with CMC, Supply Chain, Regulatory, Legal and other stakeholders to ensure fully compliant contracts, practices, policies & procedures
  • Works closely with the Finance team to track costs and forecast operational expenses
  • Develop adequate Standard Operating Procedures to support distribution account management activities
  • Attends outside meetings or events, as appropriate, to stay abreast of national, local and/or regional changes, trends of other activities that may impact the channel strategy
  • Provides routine and ad hoc analyses and reporting and keeps key internal partners and stakeholders abreast of distribution trends
  • Maintains timely and effective communications with senior management on key trends and high-level performance of the distribution networks
  • Lead, sponsor or participate on initiatives from very small to large-scale, highly complex company critical projects
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with business partners, management and senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with management, peers, and subordinates
  • Adept at creating and communicating a clear vision among cross-functional team members effectively aligning resources to achieve functional area goals
  • Ability to make decisions that balance a variety of factors to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Strong project ownership and sense of urgency to deliver best results on time

  • A strong scientific knowledge of toxicology, with expert knowledge in one or more specialty areas of the discipline
  • A strong working knowledge of US and international regulatory guidelines
  • Familiarity with drug development strategies for both small molecules and biologics
  • Ability to be proficient and work independently and in cross-functional team settings, building productive collaborations, managing conflict, multi-tasking, and prioritizing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Physical Demands Required:
