The Impact You’ll Make

  • Support internal teams with identifying and prioritizing in-licensing candidates across diverse therapeutic areas based on novel insight from the drug discovery platform
  • Initiate outreach to business development and licensing counterparts at biopharma, biotech and academic institutions and build enduring relationships on behalf of Recursion
  • Orchestrate due diligence of prospective in-licensing opportunities, with cross-functional engagement from biology, chemistry, CMC, safety, clinical development, legal/IP, commercial, and data science
  • Draft transaction term sheets and licensing agreements consistent with Recursion’s objectives and overall mission
  • Negotiate and lead transaction discussions consistent with Recursion’s values of boldness and integrity
  • Enable smooth onboarding of in-licensed programs and seamless transition to internal teams
  • Monitor and track compliance with financial and non-financial obligations, and amend or extend contracts as needed
  • Help design and execution of downstream monetization activities (e.g. out-licensing, spin-outs, asset sales) to maximize value from Recursion’s clinical stage portfolio

The Team You’ll Join 

As Director of Licensing, you will be an essential member of the Recursion Development Team reporting to the VP of Business Development and Corporate Initiatives.  The Development Team is an empowered, execution-minded group of business development and clinical development professionals responsible for accelerating Recursion’s early discovery leads into a clinical stage pipeline through licensing and partnerships.  In your role, you will work with colleagues across the Recursion organization (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Clinical, Safety) to thoroughly diligence in-licensing candidates and rapidly execute licensing transactions.  You will need self-initiative, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to transparently communicate with organization team members at all levels.

The Experience You’ll Need

  • BS/BA in life sciences (biology, chemistry, pharmacy, medical)
  • Advanced degree (JD, MBA, PhD, PharmD) strongly preferred
  • 8+ years of biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably with strong R&D experience
  • 5+ years of experience in business development and licensing, with a diverse history of successful transactions
  • Knowledge the drug development process, from early discovery research through development and commercialization stages
  • A talent for building consensus
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects efficiently with a high degree of independence
  • Strong networking and negotiation skills
  • Able to thrive in a complex, cross-functional and science-driven environment
