We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as Associate Director, Scientific Communications within Global Medical Affairs Cell Therapy. This individual will help create and manage the development of educational materials for the Medical Affairs team (scientific exchange tools for Medical Science Liaisons, advisory board meetings and other scientific presentations), scientific materials for key congresses, and be involved in publication planning and strategy. He/she will also be requested to synthesize scientific and clinical information for support of Medical Affairs activities. The Associate Director, Scientific Communications will work cross-functionally with clinical development, biostatistics, and key business partners to execute on tactics consistent with overall in-line and pipeline strategy. This position will report to the Senior Director, Scientific Communications, Global Medical Affairs Cell Therapy.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Achieve subject matter expertise in Cell Therapy to create and deliver scientific exchange tools in alignment with early- and late-stage subject matter specialists, Product and Portfolio Management teams, and alliance partners to create high-impact scientific and medical tools for the medical science field teams, medical affairs scientific presentations, and scientific booth materials at key congresses
  • Supervise and lead Scientific Communications projects and other related work to facilitate the achievement of both short- and long-term objectives for internal partners
  • Lead and coordinate all planning activities for key congresses (e.g., AACR, ASCO, SITC, ASH, EBMT, EHA, ESMO, EU CAR T) working with cross-functional partners for alignment
  • Independently collect and critically analyze internal and external data
  • Supervise the dissemination of data as needed for Medical Affairs. These data will include product and competitive bibliographies, scientific literature, educational and review materials
  • Coordinate medical writing with internal and external medical writers to ensure timely delivery and submission of results
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with counterparts in other areas (e.g., MSL training, marketing) to fully understand business needs and how Scientific Communications can meet such needs
  • Guide and coordinate medical writers, editors, project managers, vendors, draft budgets, and
  • Analyze, interpret, and communicate medical insights to partners, contributing to Data Review Meetings and Scientific and Medical Communication trainings, and developing content for scientific Advisory Board Meetings, Investigator Meetings, and Scientific Exchange/Gap Analysis events

Basic Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree (i.e. MD, PharmD, PhD) and 2+ years' experience in Medical Affairs (e.g., biotech/pharmaceutical) or academic research, OR
  • MS Degree and 8+ years' experience in Medical Affairs (e.g., biotech/pharmaceutical) or academic research, OR
  • BS Degree and 10+ years' experience in Medical Affairs (e.g., biotech/pharmaceutical) or academic research, OR
  • High School Degree and 14+ years' experience in Medical Affairs (e.g., biotech/pharmaceutical) or academic research,

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Terminal degree in pharmacy, medicine, or life science (PharmD, PhD)
  • 6+ years of experience in Medical Affairs (e.g., biotech/pharmaceutical) or academic research, including 2+ years in hematology/oncology and/or cell therapy
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and collaborative skills with individuals, groups, and senior management (internal and external)
  • Ability to write/edit/review scientific presentations, posters and abstracts with a medically strategic mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work in cross-functional environments (Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Translational Research, Research & Development, Legal, Intellectual Property, Biometrics, and Regulatory functions) and lead decision-making discussions
  • Pre- and post-launch experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience in hematology/oncology and/or immuno-oncology or related therapeutic area preferred
  • Experience in solid tumor is a plus, but not necessary
  • Expert knowledge of and compliance with all relevant guidelines, laws, and corporate policies, including ICMJE and GPP3
  • Knowledge of medical, legal, and regulatory review processes is required
  • Ability to work under challenging deadlines with key stakeholders
  • People and vendor management experience required
  • This position will be located in Santa Monica, CA; remote is possible for the right candidate
  • Up to 20% travel including weekends
