The purpose of this role is to ensure the delivery of our products to our customers and between the different BACHEM sites on time and in full. The Logistics Management Specialist will be responsible for planning and coordinating the inbound and outbound logistics, communicate with internal and external stakeholders and resolve issues. The specialist will actively seek new opportunities for continuous improvement that supports the improvement of the overall service level, compliance and cost reduction.

Your Tasks:

  • Coordinate and monitor the day to day administrative duties of the Shipping Department
  • Prepare the shipping documents for domestic and international shipments
  • Select the best option to move our products based on approved suppliers
  • Review and reconcile freight invoices, administer and mitigate freight claims
  • Ensure all shipments are delivered to the final destination in a timely manner
  • Invoicing of sales orders as per defined KPI
  • Manage the Validated Shippers Recycling Program
  • Maintain policies, procedures, and provide routine internal training as assigned
  • Monthly reporting/analysis for the area of responsibilities
  • Complies with SOP's, cGMP, and other agency standards and practices as it relates to pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • The key user of Bachem Master Control
  • The key user of Libero Manager
  • Perform investigations and CAPAs
  • Remain up-to-date on, and be able to apply, global regulatory requirements for temperature-controlled supply chain and temperature monitoring
  • Able to identify, select, qualify, and implement prequalified shipping systems that are cost-effective and cGMP/GDP compliant
  • Collaborate with customer, broker and other related parties to ensure all required documentation and shipping instructions have been received (i.e., document requirements, routing instructions, tariff codes, etc.)
  • Maintain and manage Export/Import compliance in accordance with Federal regulations (i.e. EAR requirements) and Company policy
  • Be the first point of contact for issues and escalations from the team regarding DOT, Import, and Export compliance filings
  • Conducts internal audits to ensure documents on file are in compliance with Import, Export, and DOT regulations and ready for audit purposes
  • Train internal parties on import/Export on requirements to mitigate the risk of violations.
  • Identify import/export compliance risks and develop risk assessment measures
  • Track and trace domestic and international shipments, and resolve issues with customs, FDA and other regulatory agencies
  • Be the first point of contact from operations and other internal stakeholders within the area of responsibilities
  • Resolve shipment issues and possess the ability to determine when to escalate to management for resolution
  • Communicate information (i.e. shipment delays) in a timely manner to relevant stakeholders
  • Support our vision in Supply Chain in being a trusted and value-adding partner to our stakeholders
  • Participate and lead activities with cross-functional teams to help the company meet its goals
  • Lead projects to meet objectives and drive operational results (cost reduction initiatives, optimization/consolidation initiatives, process development, carrier resourcing activities, etc.)

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor's Degree in management, supply chain, or logistics (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years' experience in as International and Domestic Logistics & Distribution for air freight and land transportation
  • 3+ years' experience in cold chain shipments
  • 3+ years of DOT related work experience
  • Strong knowledge of the Incoterms┬« 2010, IATA, ICAO, and DOT hazardous materials regulations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal, and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one or small group
  • Communicate effectively and be able to function well in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, and diligent
  • Good project management skills
  • Strong knowledge of SAP SD (ERP System)
  • Good working knowledge with Microsoft Office Software


  • Experience in a Pharmaceutical/Biotech manufacturing environment
