Position Description:
This Scientist position will be responsible for supporting preclinical and early stage drug product development activities for Principia's pipeline molecules. In this role you will be responsible for preclinical formulations to enable PK/PD and toxicology studies, as well as preformulation studies to enable dosage form development for first in human clinical studies.

Position Description:
This Scientist position will be responsible for supporting preclinical and early stage drug product development activities for Principia's pipeline molecules. In this role you will be responsible for preclinical formulations to enable PK/PD and toxicology studies, as well as preformulation studies to enable dosage form development for first in human clinical studies.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and prepare preclinical formulations for compounds in discovery and preclinical development
- Design and conduct experiments to determine physicochemical and solid-state properties of new chemical entities
- Support formulation development for early phase development
- Conduct analytical related activities including HPLC method development, operation and maintenance of HPLC and dissolution testing apparatus
- Represent formulations group in cross functional meetings, prepare and present data, write development reports.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering (or related discipline) with 0-3 years of relevant industry experience
- Strong experience and knowledge in developing preclinical formulations to support discovery and toxicology studies
- Strong working knowledge of preformulation activities, i.e. physicochemical and solid-state characterization studies of small molecules
- Strong understanding of solubility principles and solubilization techniques of poorly water-soluble compounds
- Hands on experience in HPLC, dissolution, XRPD, DSC, TGA, microscopy and PSD
- Experience in small molecule solid dosage formulation and process development, stage appropriate analytical method development and CMO management is a plus
- Experience with other dosage forms and enabling technologies is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills along with strengths in delivering results on-time in support of discovery/development programs
- Thinks critically and creatively and is able to work independently, determine appropriate resources for resolution of problems and have strong organizational and planning skills
