The Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software and Hardware Product Manager who will be accountable for leading our product strategy (appropriate for the life sciences/biotech industry) and for driving product requirements. Key responsibilities include translating customer insights and feedback into actionable requirements to guide technical development into differentiated products. Proven experience with the integration of software and hardware to provide a seamless solution for customers is ideal. The successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact for all products, and the conduit between customers and internal teams to help drive collaboration across the organization. This role is an integral part of the Product Management (PM) team at DNA Script and will report to Head of Product Management (PM).

  • Lead and manage all aspect of software and hardware product management from concept to development and launch, and lifecycle management through obsolescence.
  • Own SW strategy and software platform lifecycle, which includes defining software product roadmap for all software associated with/required for DNA Script systems (e.g. on-instrument software, LIMs software, data management, data analytics, cloud-base platform, access and storage solutions).
  • Represent the customer as PM lead in cross-functional core teams; provide customer requirements, guide feature specifications, and make decisions about implementation and resource trade-offs in alignment with relevant stakeholders to ensure products meet user and business needs.
  • Drive the execution of product evaluation programs and act as the point of contact for customer escalations.
  • Lead and develop customer engagement programs for usability feedback. Actively seek Voice of Customer data from external and internal users to drive product improvements and new product initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver effective product presentations and training to Service and Support and Sales teams in as part of pre-sale activities and funnel management.
  • Own and craft field communications related to product releases, updates, and manage customer migrations throughout product lifecycle.

  • 5+ years of product management and development experience and/or in a similar position within the life science/biotech fields.
  • A customer-centric mindset with technical software and hardware development knowledge is critical to success in this role.
  • First-hand experience with integrating software and laboratory automation, analytical instruments, reagents, and consumables - to deliver a seamless solution for life sciences customers.
  • Demonstrate success in leading technical teams to develop products that meet usability requirements, testing for product-market fit, and driving the project from concept to product launch.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle and software revision management; and how it affects the customer experience from launch to obsolescence.
  • Ability to influence and gain alignment among teams to achieve results - without direct authority.
  • Excellent team player. Comfort with ambiguity and ability to resolve.
  • Experience with troubleshooting, problem-solving, and driving software root cause analysis to resolution.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical, and project management skills.
  • Excellent speaker with technical presentation skills to small groups and customers.
  • BA/BS, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Science or Engineering field - e.g. Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred, Bioinformatics or related field and equivalent practical experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.

  • Start-up mind-set and experience in a startup environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experienced with managing third-party SW vendors
  • Experienced in and/or solid understanding of API integration

  • Requires travel among DNA Script corporate offices and client sites throughout US and Europe.
