Job Details

We are seeking a R&D Associate in the Neuroscience TFA to support R&D efforts to develop therapeutics for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. The candidate will support target research and validation, development of new technologies, creation of disease models and preclinical development of novel therapeutics to treat Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases.

As an R&D Associate, a typical day might include:
  • Conducting experiments to study and target the pathophysiological mechanisms of Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders
  • Evaluating misfolded protein uptake, aggregation and spread using molecular biology techniques, biochemistry and immunohistochemistry
  • Testing novel therapeutic strategies in animal models
  • Assisting with mouse colony management, performing animal handling, injections, surgeries, behavioral assays, tissue dissection and collection.
  • Surveying literature to expand knowledge, optimize and develop new assays and bring new ideas to the table.
  • Performing sophisticated data analysis as well as troubleshooting with minimal direction.
  • Communicating and reporting findings at group meetings.
  • Becoming an active participant of teamwork within the neuroscience department and collaborations with cross-functional groups.
  • Keeping well-organized records of experiments.

To be considered for this role, you must have at minimum of Bachelor of Science + 2 years (minimum) experience or a Master of Science with experience in Neuroscience, Biology, or a related field. You should also have hands-on experience in a laboratory research setting; Industry or academic experience with in vivo models of neurodegenerative diseases is highly desirable, experience with animal handling is required; Experience with molecular, cellular, biochemical, behavioral methods for the study of the nervous system is preferred ; Excellent verbal and communication skills; Ability to work both independently and in a team environment are required.
