A2 Biotherapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Scientist with experience in the fields of cell biology, biochemistry or bioengineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading drug-target based projects and/or technology development projects.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop, optimize, validate, automate, and execute cell-based and biochemical-based assays to screen, characterize, and advance therapeutic candidates
  • Identify, evaluate, develop, and implement suitable novel technologies to improve the drug discovery process, including safety assessments
  • Propose novel drug targets with thorough background and rational thinking; organize and manage a multi-disciplinary team to prioritize, advance or terminate target-based projects in a timely manner
  • Carry out essential experiments, including tissue culture, FACS, binding and functional assays to advance projects and programs


Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in biochemistry, cell biology or bioengineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in culturing and characterization of immortalized cell lines, primary cells and/or human pluripotent cells
  • Track record of developing automation compatible, cell-based assays using a wide range of detection methods, including flow cytometry and cellular imaging
  • Experience developing novel cell-based assays is preferred
  • Experience and knowledge in basic immunological techniques measuring CTL function, such as Elispot assay and CTL cloning/TCR repertoire analysis is preferred
  • Ability to design and execute creative, high-quality experiments independently and to interpret and communicate results in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to multitask while paying attention to timelines and priorities
  • Strong track record of critical thinking and scientific achievement as demonstrated by publications in highly regarded scientific journals or patents
  • Highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic team player who demonstrates flexibility and a sense of urgency
  • Ability to work effectively, collaborate cross-functionally and utilize resources efficiently
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
