OVERVIEW
A medium Scale Pharmaceutical company engaged in the development of treatments for patients within neurology, rheumatology, nephrology, pulmonology and ophthalmology.

The ED is a key member of the Global Medical Department and the Therapy Area Global Medical
Leadership Team, that will be involved with assisting the VP for the Global Medical Dept. to ensure the alignment, strategy and coordination of activities across the therapy areas of the medical directors.

RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Leadership across therapy areas to ensure synergies are maximised and a robust risk: benefit analysis is in place for the relevant products assigned
•    Oversight for the development and execution of therapy area medical strategies across multiple indications, with specific focus on leadership of pre-launch, launch and post-launch medical activities
•    Provide expertise from a medical and scientific perspective in analysing and interpreting clinical studies and the resulting data
•    Interactions with relevant KOLs and thought leaders through various events, such as congresses, to gather insights into treatment and testing patterns as well as scientific activities, leading to provision of expertise into the Medical Affairs Plan across the business
•    Alignment of Medical Affairs strategies together with the Field Medical activities, including matrix
•    management of MSLs where it related to cross therapy area activities
•    Leadership of Medical Affairs across the Global Medical Dept. leadership team to form collaborative
•    Relationships with relevant functions including PV, HEOR, Scientific Affair and Global Communications.
•    KOL engagement and relationship management across multiple relevant therapy areas

REQUIREMENTS
•    MD, PhD or PharmD is required
•    Strong experience working in the pharma/biotech industry within medical affairs
•    Launch experience is required
•    Prior successful leadership of medical teams
•    Proven experience in direct line management as well as ability to perform matrix leadership
•    Versatility to quickly learn new subject areas and perform effective communications of new information
•    Understanding and knowledge of relevant guidelines and standards including in particular GCP and
•    regulations regarding Investigator Sponsored Research
•    Ability to collaborate and form relationships with relevant internal functions
•    Proven ability to form and develop a KOL network
