The Finance Analyst, U.S. Distribution Center (AP5) will provide financial leadership, business expertise, guidance, and support to the Supply Chain function within AP5 Distribution Center. More specifically, the Finance Analyst will partner closely with the broader Supply Chain team to ensure proper inventory accounting is captured for AP5 finished goods, all internal controls are applied appropriately, and insightful financial analysis is provided to achieve strategic and day-to-day business objectives.

The Financial Analyst will own the process for Finished Goods provisions, Inventory Disposal Reporting to Corporate Tax, Electronic Material Destructions Orders (eMDO), Inventory at Risk Process and Donations within the AP5 Finished Goods Distribution Center.

The Finance Analyst will be exposed to complex International accounting and financial processes interfacing with Global functional areas including Commercial, the VLOG entity, Manufacturing, Transfer Pricing, and Corporate Tax with Global communication and coordination.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis - Manage AP5 Distressed Inventory Process
    • Coordinate with Commercial finance team to ensure alignment on Month End Actual finance results of Total Distressed Inventory on respective P&L's.
    • Drive eMDO (Electronic Material Destructions Orders) process along with Inventory at Risk Process to generate efficiencies.
    • Prepare comprehensive monthly provision package; lead cross functional team with the Business and submit monthly Inventory provision journal entries based upon totality of data.
    • Deliver commentary of P&L variances to LBE, Plan to Integrated Planning Finance as well as Operations Finance Consolidations to be used during Month-End Flash meetings.
    • Leverage existing reports and develop specific reports to communicate monthly financial results to AP5 Global Planning leadership team.
    • Closely support Global Supply Chain Planning with inventory ad hoc related inquires. Provide analytics, insights and commentary as needed.
    • Coordinate with Margin Accounting function to ensure alignment on Month End Actual finance results along with the appropriate Monthly Margin Adjustment.
    • Feed Global Inventory Reserve files to accurately portray AP5 reserve provisions and tie out to HFM along with SAP including relevant commentary.
    • Support transition to ASPIRE. Streamline current processes capitalizing on new system capabilities.


  • Financial Planning & Analysis - Plan/Update/LRP/LBE Cycles
    • Coordinate, consolidate and manage the development and reporting of Actuals, Plan, Update, Latest Best Estimate (LBE) and Long-Range Plan (LRP) relating to Distressed Inventory expense, Balance Sheet inventory provisions and Donations.
    • Harmonize LBE assumptions with Integrated Planning and logistics, Global Inventory counterparts and Operations Consolidation Team to ensure transparency of assumptions and clear relation to the financial implications for each estimate cycle.
    • Coordinate process of LBE cycles to triangulate to Inventory at Risk system and eMDO system to provide cohesiveness to the Month-end actual reporting.
    • Direct and take lead in any provisions that might extend beyond AP5 as appropriate, based upon leadership direction to capture related costs in a single area. Coordinate with other organizations including Consolidations Operations Finance team to harmonize the LBE's for each organization.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis - Corporate Tax Reports
    • Corporate Tax Q3/Q4 reporting requirements consist of disposals, with Goods received coming into AP16 as well as AP5 for specific Brands during the year, segregated by product group and Material.
    • Standard Cost, Deferred Margin along with Local value add breakout is also required in the reports. Requires an effective collaboration with the Margin Accounting Team to understand the segregated parts of the request.
    • Collaborate with Corporate Tax to understand the flow of inventory from end to end of our brands and ensure our reports captures the information accurately and timely.
    • Support Corporate Tax requests as needed relating to cost and or inventory flow throughout the year.


  • Finance Business Partnership:
    • Develop strong partnership with Margin Accounting and the processes to ensure proper management of accounting principles within the AP5 Distressed Inventory organization.
    • Drive cohesion between Supply Chain and Commercial consolidated finance team as monthly results of Distressed Inventory Expense are split between the two organizations and defined by Operations Finance.
    • An effective collaboration between Supply Chain Finance with the Integrated Planning and logistics business is crucial in reducing expense, appropriate Accounting of provisions and an essential cohesiveness in the Supply Chain.
    • Drive cohesion between Supply Chain and Corporate Tax requirements. Tax reports provided from Operations Finance are necessary, although gains through systems along with efficiencies from both organizations is an opportunity to AbbVie.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance:
    • Ensure financial results are recorded in compliance with AbbVie financial policies (CFM's), Sarbanes Oxley and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
    • Enforce and enhance internal controls by providing guidance and counsel to Planning teams in areas of Corporate Finance Manual (CFM) policies, divisional internal control procedures and International policies.
    • Provide Monthly Reconciliations to our Shared Financial Services team that is uploaded in blackline pertaining to or Inventory Provisions on the Balance sheet.
    • Work with our Corporate Auditors and provide information as requested, normally on although not limited to a quarterly basis.

REPORTS TO:
  • Finance Director - Brand Management & Inventory Governance
  • Effectively manage matrix relationships with Global Planning, Corporate Tax, Margin Accounting along with Supply Chain HQ team.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree B.S. or B.A. in Business (Business/Accounting/Finance). CPA/MBA desired.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience. Experience in plant/cost accounting is a plus.
  • Builds strong relationships with peers and cross functionally with partners outside of team to enable higher performance.
  • Ability to communicate as well as influence through relaying complex data in simple terms and driving actionable intelligence.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in systems, particularly MS Excel/PowerPoint. TM1, SAP, ASPIRE experience a plus.
  • Innovative with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Individual must be self-motivated and demonstrate a high level of accountability. Able to work independently and adjust priorities as needed.
