IT Database Operations Manager

The Database Operations team is looking for an IT Database Operations Manager who will manage all operational aspects of our Database and Middleware environment hosted both on On-Prem Datacenter and Cloud, using applicable best processes and practices. We are responsible for not only managing daily database and operational activities but also building the next generation of Database platforms that is aligned with our CloudFirst approach.

In this role, a typical day might include the following:

• Manage end to end operations of Database and Middleware assets hosted on On-Prem and Cloud environment.
• Drive operational efficiency, process improvements, and requirements within the operational team.
• Engage various vendor partners to enable service delivery as per agreements.
• Lead and develop an On-Prem/Cloud DBA and Middleware engineering team to solve complex problems; use sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions
• Be a Data and Cloud Domain Specialist as well as identify and drive standardization, wherever applicable, of operational procedures for various Regeneron database services.
• Drive the development and use of new and self-service tooling to support the operating model for the Regeneron databases.
• Promote automation and other management tools to ensure database environments meet operational and security standards.
• Partner with our Information Security team on the identification, analysis, and mitigation of risks related to Database Services.

To be considered for this role, you should be a good communicator with a Bachelor's Degree in computer science (or equivalent), and 10+ years of experience of supporting production databases incorporate infrastructure environments. 5+ years of leading and managing a team of skilled engineers and vendor partners. Solid understanding and experience on Relational Database Management systems like, Oracle, SQL Server/Sybase, PostgreSQL. Knowledge of RDS Databases, AWS IaaS Services, Mongo DB, CloudFront, VPC etc. Experience in using Python or similar scripting language. Experience with Database Management, Data Replication, and Monitoring tools. Knowledge of data security principles and standards.
