The Research Associate assists Adeno-Associate Virus (AAV) production and purification by running tasks that range from cell culture maintenance and transfection to purification and titer determination. This role will also be expected to help with general lab upkeep and may be asked to assist with large scale DNA preparation and protein expression/purification depending on demand.

    • Ligation
    • Transformation of E. Coli
    • Bacterial culture
    • DNA purification
    • PCR/Restriction digest
    • Agarose gel electrophoresis
    • Sequence analysis
  • Protein expression and purification
  • DNA maxi / giga preps and other general molecular biology tasks
  • Monitor the inventory for cell culture lab, and order/stock reagents and consumables as necessary


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

  • Bachelors degree in Molecular Biology or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or an MS in Molecular Biology or related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and cloning

  • Prior experience with AAV production
  • Experience with sequence analysis software (Sequencher, SnapGene, etc.)

Travel Requirements
  • No travel is expected for this position.

  • This is a lab-based position located at the main headquarters in downtown Durham, NC.
