Job Summary:

As part of the Manufacturing Technical Support (MTS) group, the Mechanic II is responsible for maintaining all manufacturing equipment including fill machines, sorters, labelers, pipettes, analytical balances, etc. The Mechanic II will assist in calibration and engineering activities. This position requires working in a team environment and independently.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Perform general preventative maintenance and planned and unplanned repairs as necessary according to SOPs and Work Instructions
  • Use of diagrams, sketches, operating manuals and engineering specifications to complete maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Calibrate general purpose manufacturing and laboratory equipment (e.g., pipettes, analytical balances, mixers) using precision measuring instruments
  • Install and maintain manufacturing and associated equipment (e.g., filling systems, HPLC systems, oligo synthesizers, purified water systems)
  • Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory
  • Supervise vendors and contractors as needed
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving of equipment to offsite vendors
  • Communicate status of work orders and work assignments to customers and supervisor.
  • Promote safe work practices and work in a safe manner at all times
  • Complete training requirements as defined in training plan
  • Assist with improvement projects
  • Complete documentation on time following Good Documentation Practices.

    Job Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years work experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnical industry (cGMP).
  • Experience working in a maintenance shop environment as well as a controlled environment.
  • Experience with electrical systems, instrumentation, refrigeration, and purified water systems.
  • Familiar with various types of pumps and motors.
  • Plant utilities and machinist knowledge is a plus.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) guidelines.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Intermediate mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient with computer software related to maintenance and calibration (e.g., SAP, Maximo or related CMMS system).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be able to multi-task and adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, schematics and ladder diagrams.
  • Punctuality and Attendance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional partners (e.g., Manufacturing, Quality Control, R&D, Manufacturing Sciences, Facilities).
  • Must always comply with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Must maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Must be a self-starter, well organized and open to learn new processes.
  • Prior experience with Quality Systems is a plus.
