AbbVie is searching for a head for its IP Litigation group. This Section Head will work at AbbVie's headquarters in North Chicago, Illinois, and report to the Vice President of Intellectual Property.

The Section Head of AbbVie's IP Litigation group will oversee the management and strategy of the company's global patent litigation. The addition of this new position to the AbbVie IP Litigation group will increase the capacity of a small group to meet the company's growing technological focus.

The responsibilities of the Section Head of the IP Litigation group will include:

• Developing and driving strategies for AbbVie's patent litigation matters;
• Forming litigation teams;
• Overseeing the negotiation and drafting of settlement agreements;
• Advising senior management on a broad range of patent litigation issues;
• Partnering with the patent prosecution and strategy Section Heads to best protect AbbVie's innovation.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with and inspiring teams of in-house and external counsel. Preferably, this experience will be in the pharma sector.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree and admission to practice law in at least one state
• 12+ years of patent litigation experience; significant preference for in-house experience
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Intellectually curious
• Strong interest in science
• Preference will be given to candidates who have significant pharmaceutical litigation experience.
