Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a Senior Manager of Supply Chain to lead starting materials, Biologics, Chemicals, and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) raw material direct category of spend for Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) and Starting Materials. This Senior Manager will focus on the development of the category strategies that define how sourcing will be done for the development, clinical, and manufacturing organizations for raw materials. The incumbent will maintain and support the implementation of 7-10-year category strategic plans and ensure projects deliver on risk, quality, regulatory, cost, and other value drivers working with cross-functions teams. Further, this Senior Manager will develop sourcing strategies and execution and supplier relationship management in addition to acting as a key part in the maturation of sourcing strategies and execution, and supplier management at Kite which includes developing/improving and implementing processes and plans.

Responsibilities of the Senior Manager of Supply Chain - CMO and Starting Materials include:
  • Development and execution of multi-year category strategies as well as assessing risk of suppliers and materials and recommending risk mitigation plans
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive results on various category, sourcing, supplier risk activities
  • Continual improvements to performance metrics, programs/processes, and innovations to achieve higher levels of business value
  • Identify, build, and maintain mutually beneficial relationships, partnerships, and alliances with select suppliers through Supplier Relationship Development programs
  • Develop a list of preferred suppliers within a category of spend and manage compliance
  • Recommend or implement changes to the organization's purchasing, supply management and material usage policies
  • Development and execution of sourcing strategies, leading Sourcing Events -e.g. RFX and the negotiation and contracting
  • Conduct detailed spend analysis by category and develop cost saving targets
  • Conduct market and competitive conditions by category
  • Define a supplier relationship management program, including segmentation criteria and a preferred supplier list for a given category
  • Develop a 3-5-year strategic plan to realize category strategy targets
  • Ability to lead teams in a matrix organization, across geographic and functional reporting lines
  • Identify, build, and maintain mutually beneficial relationships, partnerships, and alliances with select suppliers through Supplier Relationship Development programs
  • Understands business objectives and translate those objectives into Procurement priorities


Requirements:

PhD degree

OR

MA / MS degree with 6+ years' experience of pharmaceutical procurement and/or global sourcing and/or category management

OR

BS / BA degree with 8+ years' experience of pharmaceutical procurement and/or global sourcing and/or category management

OR

High School Degree with 12+ years' experience of pharmaceutical procurement and/or global sourcing and/or category management

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years Pharmaceutical Procurement experience with a Master's in Biology, Chemistry or related sciences
  • Professional certifications (e.g. CPM, CPIM) and membership in Professional Associations, e.g. ISM
  • Category Knowledge: Specific sub-categories within scope include Direct Materials assigned categories. A preferred candidate will have an intermediate knowledge level in one or more of the Direct Materials categories
  • Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated / proven typical skills and knowledge required to contribute to a Global Procurement organization. A low to medium level of understanding of the pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and familiarity with relevant supply chain practices
  • Span of Control: The position is global and expected to manage a total expenditure of $100M+. The individual may be required to implement a global sourcing strategy into local market(s)
  • As procurement influence continues to grow within Kite, the role will need to work closely with the functional business units to create value added category strategies and hold strong sourcing events. The candidate will need to have interpersonal, communications and problem-solving skills
  • A passion for strategic sourcing, supply management and operational procurement
