Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative leader to join us as a Director of Product Supply Chain, based in our global HQ in Santa Monica and reporting to the Global Supply Chain leadership. The Director is responsible for guiding Supply Chain's priorities and ensuring supply capabilities across the lifecycle of Kite's products by representing Supply Chain on the various cross-functional Technical Operations Teams. Representing Supply Chain on various product Operations Teams, the Director will shape the product strategy from a Supply Chain perspective, as well as ensure product strategy decisions are aligned across Supply Chain. Further, the incumbent will conduct and assess product evaluations across supply chain functions for various technical and process improvements as well as lead a team of Supply Chain Product Leads.

Responsibilities of the Director of Product Supply Chain include:
  • Operations Team Representation:

Ensure Supply Chain's Operations Teams goals, deliverables and timelines are met to execute the product strategy from a Tech Ops perspective.
  • Product Strategy and Execution:

Communicate product priorities and goals to various Supply Chain functions to ensure implementation and alignment of functional work.
  • Implementation of New Supply Chain Capabilities:

Ensure implementation of phase appropriate supply chain capabilities based on product requirements throughout the lifecycle from pre-IND to post-approval commercial.Capabilities could include raw materials/ vector, network capacity, logistics, packaging, warehouse.
  • Product Change Management:

Lead supply chain's input to implementation of product changes across the network. Work with the Product Variation Management Hub within Supply Chain and sponsor the interaction with the Operations Team(s).
  • Product Planning:

Plan product milestones and decision gates that will impact network supply plans, including capacity planning, capability building, and execution. Translate product milestones and decisions into tangible goals and workstreams for supply chain to ensure readiness. Lead Product Portfolio Review as part of the S&OP process to achieve planning alignment.
  • Project Lead and People Leadership:

Lead cross functional projects and help mature operating mechanisms with a continuous improvement mindset. Develop people through coaching, feedback, and empowerment, and be a role model for Kite and Gilead's Leadership.

Requirements:

PhD degree with 8+ years' experience managing operations teams in the biotechnology or biologics or pharmaceutical industry

OR

MA / MS degree with 10+ years' experience managing operations teams in the biotechnology or biologics or pharmaceutical industry

OR

BS / BA degree with 12+ years' experience managing operations teams in the biotechnology or biologics or pharmaceutical industry

OR

High School Degree with 16+ years' experience managing operations teams in the biotechnology or biologics or pharmaceutical industry

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or MS with a focus in science, operations, or engineering
  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience within Supply Chain
  • Broad understanding of the business model, science, manufacturing, facilities, engineering, process development, supply chain, regulatory, and information technology expectations for cell therapy
  • Strong knowledge of drug development and understanding of product life cycle management from early clinical phases through commercialization
  • High level of emotional intelligence, exceptional listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to make objective, inclusive, robust and unbiased decisions with imperfect information and ability to embrace other people's point of view - especially if different than one's own
  • Cross-functional, corporate and site experience with a focus on bringing diverse perspectives together, sharing best practices, and effectively leveraging resources in an inclusive manner to further Kite's enterprise strategy and achieve Technical Operation's objectives
  • Tested ability to lead through change management and building cross-functional commitment, lead, simplify and scale complex dynamic organizations through change
  • Ability to build inclusion, empowerment and accountability across teams and functions by being bold in aspiration and agile in execution, caring and making time for people, listening, speaking openly and explaining the "why", trusting in others and oneself to make sound decisions, and owning the impact of one's words and actions
  • High energy level with a positive "can do" attitude, with an ability to adapt and think "out of the box" and rapidly turn ideas into action in a nascent, evolving, innovative industry while managing ambiguity with aplomb and calmness
