The Position

The Senior Manager, Epidemiologist is responsible for generating real world evidence and pharmacoepidemiology deliverables for multiple internal and external stakeholders.

  • Conduct literature reviews and prepare background rate memos and research reports
  • Contribute to epidemiologic assessments for emerging safety issues utilizing a variety of safety data (clinical, post-marketing, pre-clinical, and other relevant safety information) and available in-house databases and signal detection tools
  • Contribute to safety research across the life cycle of Horizon products including supporting the development of risk management plans and pharmacovigilance studies
  • Contribute to the quantitative evaluation of the effectiveness of risk minimization activities
  • Contribute to the execution and management of descriptive epidemiologic studies and analyses to characterize the incidence/prevalence of disease in US, Canada, EU, Asia, and emerging market countries
  • Contribute to the design and conduct of fit-for-purpose real-world evidence analyses, including assessing natural history or clinical burden of disease, real-world clinical practice and utilization patterns, and the safety and effectiveness of interventions
  • Determine appropriate patient exposure calculation methodologies
  • Participate as needed in the design, conduct and analysis of post-marketing safety studies
  • Participate in cross-functional teams as an Epidemiology representative

Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Master's degree or equivalent with significant experience in Epidemiology or other subject with high observational research content
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or clinical research organization (CRO) experience of which 3+ years in a pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacovigilance, or safety risk management setting
  • Previous experience with safety databases and secondary data systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of pharmacovigilance regulations for both marketed and investigational products
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
