Job Details
Nektar has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Scientist, Bioanalytical Development to join their team.
This position contributes to and supports the company's research and development efforts to create high value therapeutics to address unmet medical needs. The Sr. Scientist is responsible for managing and leading the development of cell-based bioassays and ligand binding assays supporting CMC functions and clinical studies. Knowledge and hands-on experience with method development and validation of potency assays for release of drug substances/products and ligand binding assays for PK assessments are required. Experience working in a GxP environment, and CRO management for method transfer is a plus.
- Bioassay related responsibilities include designing and implementing assay development strategies based on the drug's mechanism of action to quantify and characterize the biological activity of Nektar's biologics molecules. Participate directly and manage in-house method development and optimization activities, and method transfers to CROs.
- Ligand binding assays responsibilities include leading method development activities to support PK analysis for parent compound and metabolites in clinical study samples. Includes transferring assays to other Nektar bioanalytical personnel and providing technical support for assay transfer to CROs.
- Represent Bioanalytical Development in cross functional study teams to maintain effective communication and provide project status and progress reports. Review (QC) data and writing SOPs and technical reports. Experience with electronic notebooks or Watson LIMS a plus.
- Hires and trains staff at appropriate levels of need, coordinates annual reviews, and mentors junior staff on career related subjects. Provides scientific/technical guidance, leadership and decision-making as appropriate. Provides regular performance feedback, development and coaching to direct reports.
